Hi @stxrslxs To answer your question, we will need more information. What is the issue? (I guess the look?) Where and when does this issue appear?

Hi @LEFT4LAZY You mean, that you can't see a transparent background, but a solid one? Well, I think that is because of the player, not because of the video. If you import the video to After Effects or Premiere they will indeed have a transparent background. It's just a preview thing. I think in Apple's preview it used to work, but doesn't anymore (just checked). So, as I said above – if you want the video (particles) to be transparent above an image/video, you need to import it to After Effects or Premiere and inside the app place it above the other image/video. Then render it again. I think, the only other way to get it transparent in the preview would be to make a gif with transparent background out of it. But it will probably not look good and become way too big, so you will get performance issues. Why do you want or need it to be previewed with transparent background? Maybe we can find a different solution.

Hi @LEFT4LAZY
Ok, so I got you wrong. I just had a look at you screenshots and the text. Your output settings for the export are right, Prores 4444 works with Alpha. I think that aph4 is just the same, but in Windows language. Looks like you can't preview it in Media Player because the format is not supported. Since .mov is an Apple format (and the codec as well), there are often issues with Windows. If you try to open it in Quicktime Player the preview should work. It should still be working when you import the file into After Effects or Premiere Pro. So, if you want the video to be above another video (or image), that's just the way to go. Is that what you wanted to achieve?

Hi @LEFT4LAZY 🙂 .mp4 does not support alpha, so you will have a solid background again as soon as you convert your .mov to .mp4 The settings you chose are right and the rendered .mov should be with transparent background in the end. Still, the file will probably be quite big (even bigger when you use animation codec). You could also work with .png or .psd sequences with alpha. It could be that they won't be that big, give it a try. It depends on what you would like to achieve with the transparent bg of the video.

The most simple way to create it entirely by yourself is probably to juzst choose a brush you like in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Fresco and then paint it either frame by frame or you draw some lines, export them as png and animate them in Adobe After Effects using masks. The third option would be to try to scale up the 720 to 4k and sharpen it, but it will probably not look that good.

Oh well, yeah I got your point. So this one is indeed a tricky one for you. Let's see if some product designers read this. 😉

Have you tried pressing U for a second time after having put the new keyframes? Looks like they don't show, because you have not "opened" the respective value in the timeline.

Never recognized this issue before, but you are right. I just had a look and it's really subtle. Still, one hint for you: As soon as you click on a value the whole number is automatically selected. When you click a secon time, it deselects. Hope that helps for now

Hi 🙂 That is not too complicated to achieve. As Rick already mentioned, the shapes will have to be on a single layer, but in your screenshot it looks like that is the case. Next just place the respective image above or beneath the shape you want it to appear in. Change it's size etc. to the desired one. Then you choose the track matte for the image, which is the shape layer you want it to appear in. If you want the image to move as the matte does, just link it to it. Please see an example attached:

Hi again 🙂 I'm very sorry that you could not find any help within the previous resources sent. I think it is some very basic stuff you are asking for and all the answers you need to achieve the result you want are already given within the thread with several different options to find the solution. It is not very difficult, you just have to separate the line from the arrow head, so you have two different layers. First you animate the path using Trim path, as you already did. Since your line is straight, you don't need any difficult animation setups for the arrow head. Just let it move from position A to position B, using the same position and easing for the keyframes in the timeline. If you want the arrow head to come in first, you could for example use some simple scale. Please find an example for the setup attached. Maybe it would be very helpful for you to watch a few tutorials on the basics of AE and/or keyframe animation to better understand what's going on.

Hi 🙂 Thank you very much, was going crazy with that error message. It seems to disappear when I change the renderer from Cinema 4D to Classic 3D. So it helps for now to work fluent in AE again, but I need to switch back to C4D render for rendering, because it does not fit with the look with Classic 3D. My AE is up to date btw. 😕

Ah ok, got it. So you probably only have to animate the arrow shape, not the line. This is quite simple. Just two position keyframes. One at the start of the line and one at the end.

I'm sorry to tell you, but you can't. They have to be on separate layers. Everything else makes it too much complicated. Maybe this one here is more what you are looking for: https://youtu.be/748l7DIU4bQ?si=zbDP966KzNQjpJnd&t=404

Hi 🙂 Unfortutatenly, you will have to separate the arrow shape from the line. AE does not have the option for line endings like arrows. There are several ways to make an animated arrow in AE – I usually do it the way it is done in this tutorial (just replace the plane with an arrow ;)): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZL6pd5CMoU

Hi art_enthusiast 🙂 I know it is not what you've been asking for, but when you want to move through the timeline horizontally and have problems finding the scroll bar (I think it's too dark, too), you can also use different and probably even easier ways to navigate through the timeline: 1. press shift and then scroll with your mouse (or whatever you use) ... scroll + shift enables you to scroll horizontally
2. you can use the spacebar, too! 🙂 holding the spacebar when having the mouse in the timeline activates the handtool (as you might know from several graphic tools) ... as long as you hold it, you can pan through the timeline

Ah ok, thanks I've got your point on this. Well, I think so far you will need to replace the respected compositions manually. I still think it would be a nice feature if there was an import option that asks you if you want to replace any comps. Like in Premiere for example the footage selection, when something is missing. Or in Illustrator & InDesign when there are fonts missing. But, wwhile writing this, I recognize, that these options almost always are only available, when somethin is missing. 😄 😕

Ah, I see, so I got you wrong and the problem lies somewhere else. What a pity! 😕 Simply switching off the mov-layer beneath the aep you just tried I guess. 😄 Using only the masked parts from AE could maybe be worth a try?

Hi 🙂 Maybe you could precompose the footage as container and then import the new video with the 4 sec length and a different name and replace it within that container. As I read the footaage has the right lenght as soon as you import it with a different name, right? Would it be possible to just replace your original layer source with the new one using alt+drag?

Hi Alexander 🙂 Regarding the Solids a.o. there's a tool from Battleaxe as well I discovered recently. Looks like it avoids from the very start to create solids and similar things in the file structure at all. So, if you work with it from the beginning on, you will probably not have to remove them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1D_R83Slh4 https://www.battleaxe.co/void Still don't know how to get rid of the rest, but have the same problem sometimes when using things multiple times. I came to the solution to keep only the absolutely needed things in a project, like for example a logo animation. When it comes to logo animation I also tend to have no links but to use only AE specific objects, like shape layers – so all I have to save in the end is that one or two comps, what will be imported in the end. Hope you know, what I mean. So, I work with some small animations like stars and dots I have saved as an AE preset es well. Here it's the same, I've deleted everything not needed and it's three comps in the end I will be importing to another AE file. I would not, for example, store the logo animation together with the stars in one file, but use multiple files to import.

Hi 🙂 There are more layers inside your comp than you actually see. "Null 1" is very likely hidden. There's that little icon on the top of your timeline highlighted in blue. This means that there are some layers hidden, which may include "Null 1". Press it and you will see appear more layers in your comp including "Null 1".

Hi 🙂 Well, that's maybe not a color preset issue. You say that "i replace it with AE comp" – is it possible that you still have the LUT or other effects on the clip you import from AE, and thus the effects are twice on the clip? Just something that popped right into my head by seeing your screenshots.
