I'd like to start trying some riso style effects in photoshop - I have an already created artwork, is there a way to add some kind of effect that mimics the riso texture quite realistically? I have seen some tutorials for blending coloured layers together with the multiply efefct to mimic riso, but this is an already created artwork, so not sure if there's a way to separate different colours in an artwork out. Can anyone also recommend some good riso brushes? 🙂

I am transferring layers from photoshop into illustrator by just dragging from photoshop into illustrator. When I transfer the file, a white border appears around each object. I can't find out why. When I select my images in photoshop, there is the same border but nothing is there so I don't know what to do. Please help!!

I am attemtping a risograph style print and to do this, I am making an image in 3 layers, blue, yellow and pink set to multiply so they all blend with each other. However, I want a coloured background but as the layers are set to multiply the background colour is affecting the look of the art. Is there anyway to get the background colour not to interfere with the artwork?

So in the "normal" photoshop when you want your brush to connect a straight line to a specific place you just press shift and click. Is this feature on iPad? I can't find it and I use it a lot. Thanks!

Hi, thank you this has worked! I may need to move the pattern inside the shape now (i'm lining a pattern up). Is there any way to do this after I have converted the layer to a smart object?

Hi, I've got a rectangle filled with a pattern. I want to use skew to get the right shape but the pattern won't move with the shape. In illustrator, if you click scale you can choose whether you want to transform the shape or the pattern. Is there any way of being able to move a shape with a pattern around without the pattern moving? Not currently able to get a picture so if this is an easy fix I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Sorry, ignore the images above, I have now attached them. It is a png image with a pattern laid over the top as a different layer, I accidentally had two so I have now deleted one and that has sorted out the brightness not working. Is there any way that I could still dilute the multiply effect though?

Sorry, I didn't know how to describe multiply so I thought a filter was the best way to describe it. The first image is the normal image, and then the second image is with multiply added. It's a bit too dark for me so I'm trying to see if there is a way to dilute the multiply effect or just make it brighter.

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to dilute some of the filters you can put on images (I am using multiply) I am aware of the opacity button, but instead of toning down the multiply effect it just fades a pattern I have placed in a picture. Also, would anyone know why when you have selected your whole image why it doesn't respond to any adjustments like brightness?

I've gone and got it sorted out, thought I would say the solution. Because I was using the normal paintbrush, the amount of strokes slowed illustrator down, so by expanding all the same colours and putting them onto a different layer it was making it quicker.

Sorry if this isn't specific enough, but I haven't changed any kind of brush settings. I'm just using the standard paintbrush tool and the generic basic paintbrush it comes with.

No, I also tried it on a completely different laptop without a wacom, and I just tried it on the computer screen, same problem! There is no lagging unless I'm in pattern make.

I have had a look and it says: Memory: 16 GB Chip: Apple M1 Displays:EV2460 display CintiqPro24p Dislay both 24-inch (1920 × 1080) hope this is ok, I think the memory is the RAM?

The artwork is 12.93cm by width and 8.73cm by height. It is definitely the standard paintbrush tool. I'm really sorry but I don't know enough about computers to do with specifications and RAM, but i've been trying the pattern on different computers - 3 computers with wacoms and a laptop.

This has happened on 4 different devices so I don't think it is the device, I think it's a thing in illustrator. Illustrator is the only app I have open when I work on it.

Hi, I'm working on a pattern. As i'm trying to make it a seamless pattern I want to go into pattern make mode, and while the pattern make mode is on, make adjustments to see how it looks. I want to use the brush tool to draw but it is super laggy when in pattern make mode. I know I could turn it off, but it's really important I see the picture in pattern make mode so I know what i'm doing. If anyone could help I would so appreciate it!
