A different potential approach that I believe could be just as useful would be if you simply had a Font property amongst the properties that can be added to text animators, ie. you would be able to define a range in which that font gets applied to the text, or use expression selectors for more complex application of a different font across a single text layer.

It would be great if any properties that have been added to Essential Graphics get some kind of clear indication in the layers panel that they are driven by Essential Graphics, right now there is no clear way of knowing that a property may be affected by Essential Properties from outside the comp. This indication could be an icon next to the property name, or perhaps even a "pull" button to pull the value from one of the instances where this Essential Graphics comp has been used in the project. (you would need to be prompted to select which instance to pull from)

I think it would be great if a mogrt file can be imported into an AE project, where that file will then act as a footage item, and can be dropped into comps as if it were a video file, with the exception that you can twirl open this mogrt layer and adjust it's essential properties, perhaps when importing a mogrt there could even be the option whether to import as footage or as a comp, similar to when importing Illustrator files etc. This would allow for you to import a mogrt into your project as a reference to the mogrt file on drive, that mogrt can then be altered outside the AE project, and it will update, similar to how images or videos will update when changed, this makes it easy to share mogrt assets with your team, where they can use it in a project, and the logic and layout within that mogrt can be updated without them needing to re-import and alt-replace. Not sure how feasible this all is, but I think it would be an interesting way to be able to use mogrts with AE projects. Steve

Hi there, I'm often facing unusual glitches in the UI of the Essential Graphics panel, it's difficult to reproduce, but what will happen is I will be viewing the Essential Properties of a comp, I'll then change the "Primary" selection on the panel to view properties of another comp, but there will be certain properties from the comp I was just viewing still visible, but out of alignment or far below other properties, if I click on these or try changing them it'll often crash AE, any idea what's happening here? So I've heard a lot about extension development being shifted from CEP extensions to UXP, I'm wanting to start developing a new extension and would like to make sure it's built using the latest approaches, but upon researching into how I can actually get started developing extensions for After Effects using UXP I'm just led to this page I'm quite confused as this seems to talk exclusively about developing plugins for Adobe XD and nothing about any other applications or After Effects, is it simply not yet possible to start developing extensions for After Effects using UXP? Or am I confusing something here? Any clarification would be much appreciated Steve

Hi there, I'm wanting to headlessly run a script using the AfterFX -r command like so: afterfx -r c:\script.jsx But this seems to open up the full After Effects interface, runs the script, then immediately closes After Effects, I was wondering if this is normal, is it not meant to run the script headlessly, as in no GUI? The fact that in opens up After Effects seems to defeat the point, or am I missing something? Thanks for any clarification on this Steve
