Thanks Scott, didn't see the 'usage' column option, and yeah, though it shows the use it doesn't give an idea of length. And as a reverse match alternative, you'd need to mentally compare timecode to see if this spot has been used. So looks like your end of timeline workaround is the best answer. lol, so I need to remember things like this when I get disgruntled about relative infrequency of FCPX updates vs frequent PPro updates - it's the things that I'm using 90% of the time that are most important to increase speed, and that bar tends to swing to FCPX in my use. Many years ago when I worked on video apps on Windows, Mac and Silicon Graphics, people would ask "which is best?" and my reply was "they all suck in their own unique way", lol. Some things never change. 🙂

Thinking about another way I use source clip use indications (in X) - at a glance I can see how much I've used a clip (say from an interview) in the timeline, so that I might say "ok, seen enough of that person on this topic, give time to others" sort of thing. Just super fast. Again, my goal isn't to bash PP but to find out if I'm missing a technique.

Thanks Ann, but not what I'm looking for... scenario: long timeline with many edits, I've got a source clip where I need to see what I've used already WITHOUT going to timeline or using a reverse match in source (this works but not really fast edit style). Wondering if this is similar to trying to find a PPro alternative to FCPX keywords & smart folders - there really isn't a PPro version of the functionality. But I want to be sure due to my less-than-expert knowledge of PPro that I'm not missing an approach.

Expert in FCPX but having to use PPro for working fast with Tircaster SHQ sources. Finding many metadata/logging/organization aspects are considerably better/faster in FCPX; eg, keywords, smart bins, etc. My current frustration is trying to see some indication in the Source monitor which portions of the clip are used in the current timeline. In FCPX there's an orange bar in the source clip that indicates this. Is there anything similar in PPro? Needs to indicate a range of the clip that was used, just the flag that it was "used" isn't adequate. Thanks!

Sorry for delay Kevin, had to wait for an appropriate test case. Happy to report not a single intial caps error in over 30 minutes of transcription! Huzzah. Thanks to the team from me!

Correct, new project created 24.5.0 Good to hear on other thread that Beta 24.6.0.8 fixed, though if that fix made it thru to 24.5.0 wonder why still getting init caps bug? Thanks everyone! Frustrating as all heck to constantly stop to edit these init caps.

Transcription grammar: consistently fails to capitalize after a period. I cannot understand how the transcription engine could be programmed to not capitalize EVERY TIME after a period. I waste a lot of time adding initial caps on sentances. This is stupid, should be a simple fix!

I've recorded both in Tricaster via SDI from cam (see OP for specs) as well as direct into a Canon C300 10bit 444 (see OP). Then keyed in PPro testing both with Ultra and Hawaiki keyers. Color space/etc is all 1080p 59.94 422 in Tricaster chain.

Forgot to say I've composited these over white as a 'worst case' view. When layered on darker layers the buzzing is less objectionable, but the point is to push for as close to perfect as possible.

I've done a number of green screen shoots over the years, and I always try to light the green as evenly as possibly at roughly 20-30IRE and decent talent separation from screen. Recording at a good bit depth, eg, 10/12 bit 444. Usually green isn't a big deal. However, I've got a multicam Tricaster based studio green screen situation now, and while most people key acceptably, wispy hair (especially blond) is proving to be a problem. Maybe I've just never encountered wispy hair, but trying to key creates very noisy "buzzing" edges. My usual trick of shrinking & blurring the matte slightly doesn't help. The native TC2 keyers give terrible results (see sample "OG lighting TC2 key") with this kind of hair so I'm recording ISOs and keying in post. Tech: studio is set for 1080 59.94p recorded in a Tricaster TC2 Elite using their SHQ2 codec. Panasonic ak-hc3900 and AW-UE 150 cameras. Lighting for talent and green are 56K softboxes with 56K PAR backlights with a 1/4 magenta gel to help counter spill. For comparison I've also recorded directly into a Canon C300 MKii 10bit 444 and a Sony FX3 at it's best color depth (forget params). Results with those two cameras/recordings are better yet still not perfect. I've tried keying with both PPRo Ultra Key and Hawaiki Keyer 5, neither totally solving the problem. Still end up with a thin edge of buzzing pixels. In the still samples it looks like blocky pixels but in motion it's a bad buzzing. Cam3 in sample has an angle that minimizes the wispy hair. Cam4 shows lots of wild hair and the Ultra key version best shows the blocky pixels which buzz badly when playing. Been pulling my hair out (lol) over these keys - suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

That's greyed out, I assume because it already is a mogrt. (I'm looking to save the edited mogrt so don't need to re-enter info.)

For example, I've got some lower thirds created by editing a MOGRT that I'd like to quickly reuse in other projects, without having to retype the info. But if I copy/paste an edited MOGRT between projects, if I take the 'source' project offline, the copied MOGRT goes offline also. How can you reuse a MOGRT that's been edited in your project? PS - I tried duplicating the .aegraphic file to a new folder & importing, but that failed.

When a mogrt is added to a sequence, PPro creates a .aegraphic file in that project's Motion Graphics Template Media folder. But when you copy a mogrt from a sequence in project A and paste into project B, if project A is moved/deleted, project B's copy goes offline, as it's referencing the original .aegraphic. Why doesn't PPro make a local project copy automatically? Yes, I could start from the Essential Graphics library with an original of the mogrt, but copying a mogrt that's already been edited is faster than starting over (think lower 3rds, etc).

update: still have not found a way on Macbook keyboard to move clips by a specific amount of time (more than nudge), but, have found numpad apps for iOS that do work for this. With focus on timeline & a clip(s) selected, type +5.00.00 on the iOS numpad app and the clip moves 5 minutes down the timeline. Not an elegant workaround, but better than buying a physical number pad for MBP. Would still prefer a MBP keyboard solution.

Want to move a group of clips + or - a specific amount of time. On a Macbook, so no numeric keypad (answers I've found say to use that). If I select clips & type +5:00 in timeline timecode box, it just moves the playhead.

I've got various color swatches for clients (ase/clr) that I load into the Apple system Color Picker tool and would like to access these while in PPro. But can't find a way. Using ColorSnapper as a workaround but it's extra clicks vs using the system tool. Anyone know of a way to get to Apple Color Picker or a 3rd party tool for PPro that loads ASE/CLR swatches?

I need to fix my name! It's Bob Woodhead... appreciate all the answers you've given folks over the years, Kevin. Anyway, yup, solution was to just go back to Motion. The process is super easy and close to perfect alignment. Sometimes some segments of the motion path don't link perfectly temporally, but not enough to be a problem. But the good thing is there's zero mucking about, just apply brush path as a motion path for the hand, and done. I admit to often using the approach that works quickly instead of elegantly.

Yeah, I was really hoping there'd be a way to link to the Brush path end position via expression, but I couldn't find anything. Lots of info on linking to stroke paths, but not a brush path.

Thanks Angie, but the problem is I need to do this the opposite way - freehand brush to reveal the artwork, and then link the "pen" to the brush path. I've got too many bits of artwork to reveal to KF the reveal, and I prefer the natural motion of drawing freehand vs setting KFs.

No matter what Duration property I use for the original brush stroke, after using the time stretch keyframe option above, the positions of the pasted keyframes don't match in time the brush animation. Changing Rove across Time or interpolation doesn't help. The start & end KFs match, but nothing in the middle.

Thanks guys, I'll give that a go. I was really hoping there would be a way to link via an expression to the end point of the brush stroke. There's a terribly simple way in Apple Motion to do this, but a lot of the artwork given to me uses Darken transfer mode, which Motion doesn't offer. grrrr.

Thanks Warren, I'd tried that, but the resultant keyframes don't line up in time very well. I could try to go in and time adjust the pasted keyframes, but I've got a LOT of this work to do, and I know what a PIA doing these kinds of adjustments can be. Or maybe I'm missing a good fast way to make the keyframes match the original Paint path?

Searching everywhere and can't find if it's possible to link a paint brush path to another object's motion parameters. I'm drawing with the brush tool to create a reveal effect, and would like to use the brush path to drive an animated pen.
