Account fix from mod, please?

My account developed "forums cancer" with the familiar random six-character tumor appended to my name.

I tried the following, as Joel Cherney (not as "Joel Cherney-TUMOR"):

The reason for this problem is currently unknown. In order to fix this, try the following steps:

  1. Log out from the forums completely.
  2. Log back in to the forums, but don't select "Remember me".
  3. Log out from the forums completely.
  4. Log back in to the forums the way you usually do.

Should I try again with my tumor-ized name ("Joel Cherney-u2HtWO") or is this something that only a moderator can fix?

I actually use the things-I've-posted-before list sometimes...

It sometimes fixes itself. But I've gone in and updated your account. You might have to sign out and back into forums to see it working again.

It now works. Thanks for the correction.

I have the feeling that this problem happens more on the Premiere Pro fora than for instance in the DW forum.

I have not got a clue what this is all about. Some thing about a virus. I do not know what this email is trying to tell me. I am completely lost off. Mr A Cotton

Mr Cotton,

Take a look at this ARTICLE for tips on how to adjust e-mail notifications. There are several possibilities and they are different. Check out each, to set things up, just as you want.

Good luck,

My account is broken once again. I've tried many variations on logging out, clearing cookies, et cetera, to no avail.

Am I causing this somehow? Can I prevent my forums cancer from reocurring by switching browsers or permanently blocking or allowing cookies or ???

Try it now.

I don't think it has anything to do with you, or any settings or browser issue.

Did you look at the article that I linked to?

It shows the locations, in pictures. There should not be an issue.

Good luck,
