I have attempted repeatedly to edit my thread at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/778424?tstart=0 and well before anyone has posted a reply, and the edits are ignored.
Also, CTRL-S inside the rich text editor saves and closes. It should not save and close, it should just save.
Thanks,

Message 3404683 was posted at 2011-01-15T14:08:14.636-07:00 and then
changed 5 minutes later at 2011-01-15T14:13:49.243-07:00. What changes
did you (try to) make?

Saves what? Closes what? On which platform? With which browser? With
which browser plugins?

I tried to correct my spelling mistake on the word "distorted" in the first
paragraph.
My close I meant commit my changes to the original message of that thread.
My expectation is that ctrl-s would save but not commit the message to all
other viewers yet until I post it, presumably with a separate button.
This is running on Firefox (relabelled Iceweasel for copywrong reasons)
running on x86_64 Debian Testing. I can provide the Mozilla version info but
I am replying from a cell phone at present and am not on that particular
browser right now and won't be for a few more hours.

It seems to me that the spelling was corrected just fine, but that there is an issue propagating the changes through the cache to become visible to the users. I guess that is why they call the cache synchronization algorithm "eventually consistent".

You mean like saving a draft on the server? Or do you mean commit the spelling correction from the spellchecker popup to the main RTE window without doing a commit to the server? If you mean the latter, are you using the spell checker from the RTE or the native Firefox one?

As to the "propagating the changes" issue: If I post a reply or make an edit, the view I should see after every operation should coincide exactly with what I made, and not show stale/old data.
As to the ctrl-s issue: Actually there are several choices:
As per your question:

I just made the spelling correction directly without using the spelling correction facilities in Firefox.

I am unable to post new threads. I'm hoping this email will show up in the
forum and someone will answer it. I am able to login using my account, but
there is no way to add a new discussion thread, nor is there a way to reply
to the thread at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/778424?tstart=0 via the web
site. No, it does not seem to be unique to the operating system, since this
shows up under windows XP 32-bit running Firefox version 3.6.13.
I've since figured out why that was occuring. See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/778825
