Not that I use them much, but I just discovered that the Insert Emoticon button isn't working.

Emoticons still not working. Can change fonts however.  Firefox and Win7.

Clicking the reply button also brought up the Adobe Survey Request again.  Have not seen that for months.  Where are the results?

Well, at least I got the emoticons back in Firefox/Mac. I couldn't get them at the time of the opening post and my initial tests.

Addition: but when I place several in a row, I still get them in separate lines in Explorer/Win 7.

    Bold italics with the formatting?

I can see you are right, Claudio. But it did not work last time I tried it, a while ago; after that I gave up on it.

It seems that we are back to the use of HTML, just as in the days of the fair forums, if it works.

    Bold italic?

    Indeed.

styles get stripped out of spans and divs. my work in others though...

    going for red!

lol! <font> tags are converted to spans!

Now the font selection drop-down is broken

. This is becoming a farce!

Edit: That was with Comic Sans selected!

What on earth is going on?

Edit: Maybe it's a Firefox thing.

    No, it's in IE too.

What will be next to break?

    Just doing a little testing.

    And a little more.

    Will it work???

[Edit: Nope; broken on mine too. That was with 'symbol', 'Impact' & 'comic sans' & underline, strikethorugh & bold on the last line.]

I have never used emoticons. Now they seem to be the easy way to create an empty post, instead of writing something, posting it, and deleting it again during an edit.

The invisible cursor is a random, and luckily rare (much rarer than the linefeed, which I still amend, as in this line), feature here (FF); actually, it challenges and helps training certain skills.

Well, it seems this is yet another new "quirk" we will have to get used to tolerate. Problem is, the number of such "quirks" seems to be increasing, not decreasing. And although some people like to call them "quirks", I would call them "bugs".

    September 24, 2010

    they're not bugs! they're "features"!

True; I had forgotten. Blame it on my age. Funny, though, that the new features are making our experience in the forums less pleasant...
