custom avatars to become active?

Four days ago I uploaded a custom avatar, once in .JPG format and once in .PNG format and it is still 'pending'. How long does it take before one can choose a custom avatar for the community profile? A week, a month, a year or even longer?

    Found the answer. It is slightly over 4 days to become active.

    It depends on when someone has the opportunity to look at it, which again depends on when it is uploaded; it may be much faster.
