Question

Two things that would make this forum more user friendly.

1. When you click on a thread go to the place you left off reading. Why Jive can't do this makes no sense Webcrossing did it.

2. Eliminate the logging out issue when posting or jumping from forum to forum. Webcrossing could do this in fact you only had to login once and you were logged in forever.

Both of these things cause this to be a slow forum now. and that has nothing to do with how slow they actually are.

With regards to #1 - I know this is a feature that many of you miss and is very tightly tied into everyone's productivity. This one has been logged as a feature request with Jive (don't know the ID of it) - not just by us but by many others. No ETA on this one.

With regards to #2 - This should not be happening, especially considering the way the timeout is set (4 hours) - no one should be logged out while actively navigating through forums or composing messages (unless it takes you over four hours to do so!)  If this is happening to any of you consistently (i.e. you can reproduce it consistently), please reach out to me via private message if you are willing to work with us to troubleshoot this with us and Jive Support.

We made a conscious decision to utilize Adobe IDs to access forums - so that you can access all areas of Adobe.com (including forums) with a single user name and password instead of managing accounts for specific areas. S.D.A. is right to say that we cannot extend the login timeout because of security issues related not to forums, but to other areas of Adobe.com. That said, we are looking into ways that we could possibly extend the login timeout just for Forums. Also no ETA on this one at the moment, we are only at the investigation phase.

Sometimes I have to re-login after 30 minutes of active forum usage.  Sometimes I close the browser window for the night, come back the next morning (at least 8 hours later) and can still post without logging in.  Yep, something isn't quite right.

Supposedly they are working on the possibility, of a cookie to to allow limited sign in. Supposedly after describing WebX ability to permanently sign people in unless they sign out on their own, that was a Bug they were unaware of.

That was a bug who was unaware of? Was it a WebX bug? I doubt it... there are numerous forums extant and, in virtually all of them, unless you sign out, or flush your cookies or reformat your HDD or whatever, you remain signed in.

This is not like other forums in the sense that User Login is associated

with an Adobe ID that one uses when purchasing product. So there is major

security issues that other forums don't have to worry about other than

    spamming comments.

Separate them... like it was earlier... simple.

Simple for us to say; But we don't know the entire picture.
