I have no trouble accessing online chat with a good desktop browser like Chrome or Firefox.

I do have cookies enabled and I don't use script blockers.  Maybe that's the difference.

Chat is possible not only from a desktop PC but also from a smartphone (Android / iPhone)

(however, it becomes a full screen chat screen).
