Which CPU/GPU combination is better for running AE/Premiere ?

Hello,

I'm currently buying new laptop and as you can guess by the title, I'd like to ask some advice regarding CPU/GPU combination. I've narrowed my choices down to two:

1) i7-8750H + GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

2) i7-7700HQ + GeForce GTX 1060

My first instinct was telling me to go for better CPU for video editing, but then I stumbled upon similar thred that suggests that CPU/GPU balance is important and bad balance can even be counter-productive. Should I then go for (2) to have better balance?

Note: There's also the same model with i7-8750H + GeForce GTX 1060, but it's quite expensive. How would this combo do? Should I bite the bullet and expand my bugget? Note that I'm beginner, not a professional or semi-professional by any stretch. One of the reasons I'm buying new laptop is so that I can actually run the software at all, my current machine struggles even with Photoshop.

Thank you

I agree with Kris:

In addition to what is in the reply, the i7-8750H has a significantly higher all-core Turbo speed (3.9 GHz on all six cores) than the i7-7700HQ (3.4 GHz on its four cores); this affects the real-world rendering performance. And both of the GPUs have a memory throughput that's significantly higher than that of the system RAM (in GB/s), so the CPU performance doesn't get slammed by a mismatch between the GPU and system RAM.

Thank you both! I have decided to go with i7-8750H + GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

CPU is usually more important all around. You really want the best CPU you can afford. I would vote for the faster CPU

EDIT - it's questionable whether you would even take much advantage of the better GPU. It kind of depends on what specifically you're doing - the format/codec, effects/coloring, whether you are scaling or resizing, what you're exporting to, etc. It's nice to have a higher end GPU but CPU is really going to make the most difference in my opinion.

As a side note - AE absolutely EATS memory (it's designed to), so go with as much as you can if you're going to be doing AE - 64GB is definitely not too high. For premiere though, i don't honestly think i really ever go past like 40-50% utilization of my 32GB RAM.
