Please Help

Question

I'm not sure what to call it, and I've been stuck on google or Adobe tutorials for far too long trying to figure out what I am sure is basic 101 of "after effects.

Clearly I am new and this is my first assignment. Which is to move text from behind a shape to out in the open after 1.5 seconds. I have clicked on anchor point, opacity, and position. No matter what I try the word never moves. I can get the box shape to move, and the colors that represent the stoplight to go from 0% > 100%, but nothing I try does anything to the words.

I have been googling for over an hour. Been scowering Youtube. I'm not on adobe "unhelpful" article since the customer support number is only open M-F.

I don't kwow what this is called so not sure what to goole, search or even ask ChatGPT. Don't know which buttons to click to anchor the text so when I move the playhead I can re-anchor it somewhere else. SO it does what I need it to do. So I could really use some guidance here.

It sounds like you're on the right path, but I'm guessing you've just missed a step.

On the Text layer, tap P to expose the position keyframes.
In the timeline you should see a Current Time Indicator (CTI), drag this to the 0 second mark.
On the Position stopwatch, click it to set a keyframe.
Scrub the CTI to 1.5 seconds.
Drag the text layer to it's new position.

When you play this back the text layer should move from one position to the other.

If it's not moving, can you post a screenshot showing your timeline and the layers.
