Hi,Are you supposed to use accent marks on capital letters? I'm creating a design (for a graphic-design class) about the painter Salvador Dali (the Ii in his last name has an accent mark on it). I'm going to use the name DALI in all-caps. I'm not sure if the accent is used in all caps. Does anyone know? Thanks, Phyllis
I am looking for some non-reduntant, sans serif, proportionally spaced fonts. That is:1) Courier is non-reduntant (each letter and number is different), but it has serifs and is fixed width2) Arial is sans serif and proportionally spaced, but redundant. For example using Arial for the word "Illustrator" upper case "i" and lower case "L" look the same.A font like Arial would be fine if it had an upper case "i" that looked like "I". It would be nice to have a font table listing the various attributes of the common fonts
I received great help here before so I wanted to ask a couple more questions. The restaurant I work for recently put up a small banner-type advertisement in the bar that said: "Dini's Happy Hour's..." and I was a little disappointed to not be a part of the design process, so I made a good-natured jab to the owner that he shouldn't do printed promos without my input. This started the apostrophe conversation amongst the locals at the bar—everybody agreed that the apostrophe in Hour's was incorrect. But one person also felt strongly that Dini's should have been Dinis'. I can't quote her reason (it was happy hour) but something like that Dini's was becoming a plural possessive or ??? The restaurant is named "Dini's Bistro" and one of the owners last name is Dini. The second part is that I learned in a typography class years ago that it is bad form to do things in all capitals, (hard to read, ugly etc.) but I don't remember learning anything about using small capitals. That's what the sign c
I am at a dead end trying to find a typeface which is not a script, which offers me more than one stroke weight for Traditional Chinese and South Korean characters. I need a typeface which will compliment Helvetica. Please help!Thank you

I used to have a font called Martian, but it seems to have been lost after several machine changes. I can no longer remember if it was Postscript or truetype, but I doubt it was from Adobe. Anyone know of this font and how I could get hold of it again?
I just went to the download page for ATM Light, and found that while the Mac version is still available, there is no longer a link to download ATM 4.1.2 for Windows. All that's there is a note saying that it's not needed for Windows 2000 and the system requirements for installing it. The referencing page has the correct information that ATM is required for earlier versions of windows and if you need to create instances of [the no longer supported] multiple master fonts.Referencing page:http://www.adobe.com/products/atmlight/Download page:http://www.adobe.com/products/atmlight/download.htmlDoes anyone know if they've pulled this intentionally and permanently? It's still available on the FTP site, but that's somewhat arcane. - Herb
I've got Myriad installed on my system as part of CS4, and have been gradually integrating it into my company's Word workflow (using Windows XP SP2). In most cases, I am able to print directly to the printer (IKON), but sometimes Word will crash to the desktop when attempting to print. Also, I am unable to PDF these Word documents. Can anyone suggest a fix for this?
I might be getting involved in a project that involves making a dictionary for a First Nations/Native North American language, and I'd appreciate it if someone could suggest some fonts. The materials are currently mostly in Gentium, which looks okay to me. Although its coverage is impressive and it doesn't look half bad, I have the knee-jerk reaction to free fonts that many of us have - it's not a reasonable reaction, I think, in this case. SIL as an organization is radically different from 1001FreeFonts.com, so I'm not worried about malformed fonts causing issues at print. I'm simply curious if there isn't anything out there that I've never heard of due to the fact that I've spent the last decade in a cash-strapped nonprofit organization. The glyph complement I'd need is already covered by Gentium. It features some IPA here and there, and quite a few characgters that I've never seen in use before. Some of the necessary glyphs include: Latin letter L with "belt." (What? Belt? Wel
Can someone help with the name of this font ?http://anothermasterpiece.com/help/font.jpg

I really couldn't find anywhere at Adobe.com useful information about this issue. Can anyone help me please with this? Thanks
I am facing 2 issues with PS flavoured Opentype (.otf) fonts on Windows XP.1. CharacterMap displays all unicode ranges in such fonts. It is not able to recognise unicode ranges from font file. For TTF font only latin and Gujarati ranges are shown in Charmap. For OTF font Unicode ranges of all languages are show.2. MS Word 2003 is also not able to find complex script support available in the fonts. I have few fonts for Hindi,Gujarati and other indian scripts for which it does not recognise language support in PS fonts. Both typing and conversion from TTF flavoured native windows indic fonts is an issue.
I work part-time for a local restaurant in an accounting capacity and recently they asked me to redesign their bar menu. I'm enjoying the creative process of designing a pleasing look for the menu but I'm struggling with capitalization of menu item descriptions. Currently the menu is inconsistent with capitalizing words which I know is wrong, but I'm not sure what is the best way to go.All menu items have a heading that is capitalized like "Salmon Sandwich" and then the description below will say "Grilled salmon, Applewood smoked bacon with Swiss cheese. Or, "Reuben Sandwich" —"Classic Reuben with corned beef, sauerkraut and swiss on rye with Russian dressing." Should swiss be capitalized, should Russian be capitalized, should something like Ortega chili be capitalized? Should Shitake mushroom be capitalized?Thank you in advance for your thoughts.Patty
I need a dashed font. That is, a font where each of the letters is composed of broken lines. Is there such a font available in Adobe Illustrator?
Hi guys,I recently had an interesting discussion with a client who had raised concern that the numericals in Myriad Pro were visibly smaller than the capitals (eg 24F...the 'F' sits higher than the 24).I checked several other fonts by comparison and noticed alignment varied across most although it does appear slightly more prominent in Myriad Pro.My basic assumption is that it follows the principles of lowercase, that the differences in height create a visible shape difference and assists readability versus if they were all exactly the same height which would create a more solid block. But I can also see my client's point...in certain instances such as the example mentioned...24F...the '24' looks almost .25pts smaller than the F.So was is the reason behind the difference in heights in Myriad Pro?Cheers,Gatorage
I'm working on a document that's full of measurements like 10' x 20'. I've made sure to use prime marks for all the feet or inches throughout. Am wondering if the x in 10 x 20 should be changed to a multiplication sign? Is that standard when you're writing 10 x 20 or should it really be an x?Hope that made sense. Thanks, Phyllis
Hi, I'm using Aachen Standard for my headlines in a brochure. Can anyone recommend a good font for the body copy? I usually use a serif like Adobe Garamond for the main text but am thinking maybe something different to go with Aachen? Any suggestions? We're using Aachen because it's in our new logo. Thanks, Phyllis
I am new to this whole area of fonts and need some advice please. I have trawled the internet looking for help - none, I have searched the help of fontbook that comes with apple tiger - absolutley useless in every degree. So here are my questions/problems:Recently my wife lost 110 fonts over a few months from illustrator, they just started to dissappear mysteriously. I did an archive and install, several cleans of the machine, all permissions were always good, they did not return. I uninstalled all adobe creative suite 3 and re-installed via safeboot and suddenly fonts started to come back, from 19 to 40. I re-booted normally and opened fontbook, fonts went up to 120. But there are 6 to 8 fonts missing still. We have NEVER downloaded fonts, never imported them, never imported other documents. I was told by an adobe professional that illustrator doers not install fonts, well this is absolute rubbish after my experiences. Anyone any ideas? My seco
I have always avoided using TT fonts for print, but recently received a template for print that used all True Type fonts in its style sheet. Do you think I'll have problems with the fonts becoming corrupt or any other prolems?
Hi there,I'm working on some legacy files in OS 9 and I'm having a strange problem...On screen all looks fine, but when attempting to print to a PS printer or generating a PDF all upper ascii characters (accented etc.) just disappear leaving blank spaces. The font is Gill Sans Type 1 and all applications are affected. Switching to a different version of Gill Sans has no effect, but switching to a different font cures the problem. In ATM the fonts check out fine and I've tried to ditch printing related preferences, but to no avail. What could be the cause of this? Does ATM hang on to cache files somewhere?Any help would be very much appreciated.Cheers Martin
I hope I'm posting this correctly. Things have changed a lot since I frequented the Adobe forums years ago. I am looking to upgrade to Mac Leopard OS. I have heard there are some problems with postscript 1 fonts. I am looking to convert my hundreds of font to open type 100% without any modification. Please advice me. Buying a new set of fonts is too much for me.
