Hi Guys! Since 2014 I use to edit with my Macbook Pro 2013 2 GHz Intel Core i7 2.0GHz boost to 3.2GHz with 8gb ram (no external gpu). I'd like to change after almost 3years and I'm thinking about the new Zenbook Pro UX501VW  with 4gb nvidia gtx 960, 16gb ram and Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz boost to 3.6GHz.Now the question is, according to you, I'll have a significant improvement in 4k editing or it will be pretty much the same thing?Thank you in advance!All the best

I'm new to video editing but I really want to try my hand at it and my current PC is far outdated, so...My PC is now due to retire and make way for an upgrade, but since I purchased my current PC (several years ago) SSDs and SSHDs seem to have become the big thing. So I've been trying to read up and learn.So my new PC is based on using programs such as premiere Pro, PhotoShop and web design. I am ordering a second machine for editing at home. I am considering a couple different options but would like some advice. I recently bought the Red Giant Trapcode suite and want it to be a tad better with that stuff and just rendering previews in AE smoother and faster. Hello all!I am sure this has been answered, but i wanted to discuss my Portable setup that i am currently using for Video editing while using Premiere Pro and AE. When editing in Premiere Pro now, it seems to be running fairly smooth when editing 4k media with little to no lag. Based on research and reading forums, I have heard that an additional SSD can help improve the performance even more, specifically around the Media Cache. Since my internal SSD is a lot faster than the external SSD, how should the media cache be set up to really increase the performance/rendering times? Or is it even worth it to use the external SSD for just the cache, since you have to carry it around every time you edit something.I did experiment a little and i moved all of my media cache/scratch disk files (Previews/Autosave/etc) to my external SSD and it seemed to slow my rendering/previews down. As of now Adobe has updated the "supported requirements" list with the 2017 release of Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Yet, I wonder, why the highest Geforce GTX card supported for GPU acceleration in Windows is the 2013 Geforce GTX 780 and 780M. Among pro-users working with Geforce CUDA, the Geforce GTX 1070 and 1080 is the most popular graphics cards on the market, and personally I own a 1070 myself. I purchased this knowing it was not fully compatible with GPU acceleration in Adobe Premiere Pro, but there should be support just around the corner. Several months later, I am still sitting here with my 1070 inside my tower, with the ability to only utilize not even 51% but only 50% of the 1070s potential. Yet I see, the Quadro M6000, which was released in 2016 is supported. After several months, I have bought parts for a new PC build. It is my first new desktop in years. I have gotten heavily into drones and now need to learn Premiere. Hopefully I didn't screw up too much picking my parts. I am still unsure how to setup my storage for best performance though. On my Asus x99-A II board it plan to overclock my 6850K.There are two ways. Bios or software. I am looking for user experience with the Asus AI suite. I read a lot of bad things about it. Raising voltage to high etc.What would you recommend? Old school bios or auto tuning via 5 way optimisation? Also, does some know a good over clocking guide for my CPU?

I am about to build up a new editing system for after effects and premiere pro CC. I was now wondering which win 10 version I shall go with? Home 64bit seem to be completely fine. Pro offers a variety of additional features that I will never use. So in terms of performance I incline to stick to the home version. Or is the pro version somehow faster?Really appreciate your feedback.

I am a media student and I'm not brilliantly informed on all the specs you may need to run this kind of software. I have a new laptop and it wasn't bought purely for editing obviously, at some stage I am going to have to purchase a MacBook pro as that is what I will need to take to university next year because I'm aware it will be very efficient for adobe editing software and I am used to using macs.However for now, I was just wondering whether this laptop would even be able to run the software if I was to download it, it would be good just to have access to it at home to use for and practice with. Like I said it won't be a permanent arrangement to use this laptop for my editing I simply want to know if I will be able to use the software on here and if so whether it would be worth it on account of how slow it might be.(Not that I'm really 100% sure on what these all mean) I know that the laptop has;HP Notebook 1511Processor : Intel core i3 - 7100U CPU @ 2.40 GHz64 bit operating system

I'm looking at buying a Z270 mother board with a Kaby Lake 7700K Processor.  My understanding is that the chipset provides 24 PCI-e lanes and the CPU provides an additional 16 PCI-e lanes.  I will also obtain a single video card, and my understanding is that it will utilize all 16 CPU lanes (unless I reduce it to 8x).  If this is true, then does that mean that all of the other devices in the PC that rely on PCI-e lanes will get them from the chipset?Also, what devices, other than a M.2 SSD's and PCI-e cards, need availability to PCI-e lanes.  USB 3?  M/B?  Chipset or CPU themselves? I'm trying to allocate devices to available lanes to determine whether or not I need to go to X99.  I'm quite certain I will never do SLI, so Z270 will probably be fine.

I bought a G-RAID WITH THUNDERBOLT 2 AND USB 3.0 8TB (2-removable 7200RPM, USB 3.0, data transferUp to 480MB/s) I have a laptop and this thing is HUGE.  Would installing another SSD card (or 2) be a better option.  Would the editing speed be the same.  I'm could still return this thing.  I edit mainly 4K mov's and mp4 files on Premiere Pro.

In NLE, if you store original source footage on one HDD and import the footage into Premiere's media cache folder located on another HDD, can you then remove the HDD that holds the source footage and complete the project? Or will Premiere continue to rely on source files at some stage in the process?Also, if substantially all of the raw footage is to be included in the completed project, (i.e. you are not editing out much data), will the size of the media cache files for that project approximate the size of the original sources files?

Hi,I am looking for a suitable pc case for good cooling performance. I planed to got for the Fractal Design R5 but reviews say that appart form good hardware management and silence the cooling performance is pretty bad.There are various other options such as the Corsair Obsidian450D, Silverstone Fortress FT05 high, BeQuiet...  and other brands that might perform better. I don't need a silent case primarely. Cooling performance is more important.What do you guys recommand for 4K video editing and after effect projects? Help is much appreciated.Best,Alex

Hey everyone,If anyone could help me with this issue would be great!Here are my SPECS:- i7 3770k- 256gb SSDs in raid 0- 16gb ram- GTX 1060 6gb (upgraded from a GTX 660Ti recently)Here's the PROBLEM:- Playback 4k sequence- Starts off smooth- While monitoring CPU/GPU load i get between 50-85% CPU & 20-30% GPU- All of a sudden GPU drops to 0-1% and CPU usage is more or less the same but sometimes climbs to 95%I have the latest Nvidia drivers...I've tried creating a new project and just importing 2-3 4k video files and trying to play it back still get similar results...I cant seem to playback 4k video without the gpu dropping suddenly at random point and starts lagging up a storm!Any help is appreciated because I'm really going to give up on my rig.I never had any issued like this before.really considering switching to mac because i ran the same video files on Final Cut Pro... works flawlessly on a weaker i5 Macbook with an intel HD 5000.I dont understand why.

We are looking to replace our aging MacPros with iMacs. We edit in Premiere/After Effects, Photoshop, Audition and Illustrator.I see there are some optional configurations from Apple such as i7 processors, 7200 rpm hard drive and Fusion drive combos.We are tied to a Small Tree Titanium Z server and work exclusively 1920x1080p 29.97 projects.  We use Media Encoder to transcode our ProRes 422 masters to H.264 .mp4 web files at 10Gbps.We presently use NVDIA GTX680 cards to take advantage of the CUDA technology and speed up renders and performance.Does anyone have some practical experience and recommendation on how to configure a 27" or 21.5" iMac to get the best performance from Adobe Software?Thanks.

The new incoming Kaby Lake processors have built-in hardware decoding for certain video formats. I cannot find any info whether premiere and or AE have software support for this. Some say that probably only basic applications take use of these features and they dont affect pro editing applications. But still that's just an assumption and not real info.Now I'm running an overclocked i5 2500K which is getting way too slow for editing 4K footage. I shoot mainly with GH4. My plan is to wait until January until the kaby lake i7 7700K comes to market to build a new PC.Has anyone found any hard data how much the new processors decoding capabilities affect real world basic video editing with 4K footage or none at all, and more importantly has Adobe programmed software support for these hardware features?[moved to hardware forum for specialized help]

Hello,First let me present the actual setup : At the moment, we have 3 different options for the gpu : 1x GTX 1080, 1x GTX 970 or 2x GTX 770 connected by SLI.The processor is an i7 6700k.The RAM is 32 go ddr4 2133 mhz.We are editing 4k videos which we are exporting into h.264. The bitrate is 2,7 mb/s.We are taking the videos from a NAS Synology DS416PLAY and we are exporting there.We have 4 HDD in this NAS, ref. --> WD40EFRX-68WT0N0The way we edit our videos is really simple : we insert an intro/outro on Premiere Pro CC 2017, we have to sync 2 different videos (a capture and a screencast), an overlay and we also have to apply an effect (which i don't remember the exact name) to remove the fish-eye effect (something like go pro lens correction). Also our videos are between 30 mins and 1h40.We have 3 good computers for editing which takes the medias from the NAS, edit it and then export to the NAS, then we upload the exported videos on internet.
