Video Hardware

Building my first PC. Any suggestions on my part list? Will this run 4k and after effects pretty well without too much bottlenecks? Am I missing any components or do you see any compatible issues? Could I make this $400-600 and still stay close to similar power and have a balanced pc. Should I run my OS and programs (after effects, etc.) on the 950 pro, and run my project files, scratch disc, and media cache on the 850 evo, and my media files on the wd 1tb? I think for the cooler I might use a Noctuna d15 instead of dark rock pro. Ill take any tips and all tips. I guess aside from the partlist Im most concerned on actually putting it together. Also when I try to add a transition to a video and then play it, it starts to stutter and drop frams like crazy. The only thing I can think of is that I need more RAM, but wanted to make sure first.Thank You.

My OS/Program hard drive died and I have to replace at least one hard drive.  After looking at the ssd vs raid thread, I'm thinking of replacing my 2 raid0 volumes with a single ssd. Then just adding a 4tb drive for backup. This is for running PProCS6.  I'd like to know how to deactivate my current CS6 (that was free upgraded from 5.5) and get it loaded back in the came computer with at least a new OS/Program SSD.  I've got the discs for CS5.5 Master Collection and the disc for Win7x64pro.  Win 10 was forced fed to my computer without my consent and I've been using it for a while.  I'm not really sure if I should stay with Win10, or Win7.  I'm not interested in buying any new Cloud version of this software in the near future.Any Ideas?Thanks

Am in the process of upgrading my PC and part of that was going to include moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  However I have just discovered that there are no Windows 10 drivers available for my Matrox O2 Mini which I use to output a HDMI signal from Premiere to a TV monitor.So what does everyone else do to monitor their timeline?Do you just use a computer monitor and set it to full screen?  I was never very happy with that solution.Has anyone tried the Matrox O2 Mini with the latest drivers with Windows 10 and Premiere CC2015?All advice welcome.

Hi, I just have more of a general question that I need a little help on.Unlike many here I still work on SD material like BetacamSP and other analog formats. I'm also dabbing into doing HD 1080p material (and will soon get a 1080p based pro video camera) and I don't have any equipment nor cameras for 4K stuff at this time.Question is, I plan to build a new workstation that will serve as both my DAW and Video editing system with PPro, PS and AE. I also plan to do alot of audio editing and music composition as well on the same machine, in which this will be in a 4U rackmount case.With that said, I have read that using the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD drive is the way to go mostly now for PPro project files and export. I've also read that the 960 Pro 1TB version of the M.2 drive is due out by the end of this month. The list Adobe has on its site of recommended cards for GPU acceleration is quite out of date. If I want to look at a newer model card, are there specs that I can zone in on to ensure compatibility (e.g. # of CUDA cores/stream processors)?Thanks.

Hi, I'm looking into getting an iMac for video editing, as I've worked with them in the past with good results. I was wondering if the mercury playback engine (hardware acceleration) works on the 2016 iMac. I've heard you don't have to have an nVidia card for this to work, but then I also heard that you do. Hi, I'm just started a company working with young people, and I need a laptop for editing some videos (short films/music videos).I was looking at a cheap laptop to be able to run Adobe Premiere and After Effects smoothly.I was told that this laptop would run smoothly:Lenovo Ideapad Y700 | 15 inch Gaming Laptop  | Lenovo India Can anyone confirm this? Hi guys- I am in the market for a new editing laptop (has to be a laptop, unfortunately). This will be my primary workstation. I edit with Premiere, After effects and Photoshop running, switching between them with dynamic link. I often have heavy After effects compositions with upwards of 30 layers, plus effects. I am going to start shooting RAW from a 5dmkIII, and eventually switch up to a Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4.6k later this year. Ideally, I would like to online edit, if that isn't a ridiculous demand. This is the spec I have come up with so far, and it's running in at about £2,500. If anyone has anysuggestions to bring the cost down a little, or reckons it's not even powerful enough, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm camera and light minded, not computer minded, so I'm struggling a bit with these decisions. I'm building a new PC for video editing and I am considering this arrangement for storage:Samsung 960 PRO NVME M.2 512GB:  O/S and ProgramsSamsung 850 PRO SATA 2TB:  Data, Media/ProjectsWestern Digital Red Pro 7200 HDD 8TB: Mass Storage and Previews/ExportsWestern Digital Red Pro 7200 HDD 8TB: Backup and Media CacheOr would I be better off with Previews/Exports and Media Cache placed on the 850 PRO along with Media/Projects?During the Golden Days of HDD's, we usually split these off onto separate drives.  But with SSD's, I'm not so sure.   Can the SSD really handle all those tasks better?Remaining components are 32GB RAM, I7-7700K CPU, Z270 Motherboard, GTX-1080 GPU, Enermax 750 Platinum PSU.

I know that there are already multiple threads for the best graphics card. But I have a kind of different scenario since I don't have many fancy/crazy effects, but just many cameras that recorded simultaneously.So I need to do some multisequence editing in Premiere Pro with a total of 10 cameras with these resolutions: 1x 4k, 3x 2.7k, 6x FullHDIn my wildest dreams I'd be able to smoothly see all 10 streams while setting the camera switches. Since upgrading to Premiere Pro 2017 I'm getting a warning that GPU acceleration is not available. Always managed to get Premiere to accept my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 in the past but stumped as to how to do this in 2017?Also, wondering if I should consider upgrading this NVIDIA  graphics card and would welcome any suggestions. I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum, but I couldn't think of a better one. I'm hoping someone might have a clue as to what my problem is.I have 4K photo-jpeg clips I've created (with After Effects CC, if that matters), and I've been trying to figure out why I can't play them smoothly on my computer. At best they play at about 15fps; at worst (different video players) they stutter like crazy, and audio is choppy (on & off for seconds at a time).I'm running Win 10 64-bit, and when using Task Manager's Performance monitoring, I can't see anything being utilized too much:CPU: 31% max, mostly 29%Memory: 19%Disk: 53% max, mostly 0% (file is playing from an SSD)GPU Load: Varies 16% - 41%,GPU Memory Controller Load: Varies 9% - 28%These figures are when using the Win 10 "Movies & TV" app. I haven't examined resource utilization when running other players, but none of the other players I've tried (VLC, Windows Media Player, MPC, PotPlayer) plays these clips any better. hi everyone.you all know about the awesome SSD speed and how putting it on cache in premiere makes it fast right? Well, I was reading that premiere uses the media drive for export, not the cache(except for use previews I suppose). makes sense right? so I was wondering, since the SSD drive is so small, if, once we're done with editing smoothly with the cache stuff, then delete all the cache, copy the slow media to the SSD to render faster?

I've tried drivers old and new. I need a reliable system. I currently can't work in CUDA because after every few moves the screen goes black. Only way to get it back is to switch to software only.I know there are a lot of people with this problem. But perhaps some who do not have this problem might share which Video Card they are using. Hello,I do the bulk of my work on my desktop, but while traveling I regularly need to do a little graphics work. I would like to get a 2-in-one that I can use.  I have thought about the Lenovo 910, Lenovo P40, Surface Book, and a few others. Not an Apple fan.  Not sure if I "must" have Nvidia or not? Also want to avoid the UI being unusably small if the screen resolution is super high…  Here are my “needs:” Showing pictures to clients, would like nice display for this. Lightroom basics—importing and tagging mostly. Photoshop—fairly simple editing tasks mostly RAW images from Canon DSLR. Premiere basics—upload a few videos (10 minutes total) from Canon DSLR and cut together simple video to export to H.264.  Not sure, but I can imagine when at home it might sometimes be nice to use this computer for pen tasks instead of a Wacom/desktop. Suggestions?

I’m a relative novice when it comes to computers, but thanks in large part to a lot of YouTube videos, I was able to build a PC specifically with video editing in mind. Now that it’s put together, however, I’m still seeing a lot of lag time with rendering and editing on my timeline, not to mention importing and exporting.
