There have been many questions about how to set up your disks.Where do I put my media cache files, where the page file, and what about my preview files?All these allocations can be set in PR, so I made this overview to help you find some settings that may be beneficial. It is not a law to do it like this, it is a generic approach that would suit many users, but depending on source material, workflow and backup possibilities, it is not unthinkable you need to deviate from this approach in your individual case.The reasoning behind this overview is that you want to distibute disk access across as many disks as possible and get the best performance.Look for yourself:I hope this helps to remove doubts you may have had about your setup or to find a setup that improves performance.

Hello all-knowledgeable computer friends,           I am taking the plunge and am about to purchase these parts via newegg for ~$2000 to complete my DIY Premiere Pro 6/AE video editing computer for DSLR footage. I would love any feedback possible. What do you love/what do you hate? What should I change?Some questions: -Can anyone double-check my RAM, motherboard, & CPU compatibility?  -Should I invest in a cooling fan? -Will 750w be enough for PSU?-Which RAM should I go with, 1600 or 1866 with the 3930k? Hello Adobe forum!I'm switching from Mac to PC and need help picking out my workstation. I plan on doing heavy editing on Premiere Pro (6) as well as a healthy amount of work in After effects (6), and my budget hovers around $3000. I will not be doing any assembling myself (gotta go with a turnkey/custom company). Overall, are these general specs good enough for my needs? Is there anything I need to upgrade? I installed CS6 which was fast and painless into my programs directry G( aslo where CS5 is installed):, add my card (GTX465)  and linked the PPRO EXE in the nvida settings and made it compatable. Then launch CS6 , which was much faster than CS5 loading up. Settup a new Project and went to the general progect settings, to set the ME Hardware play back settings, I could not change it from software to hardware. I have tried to do this and redo the settings still does not work. I uninstalled CS6  and reinstalled cs6 as a default C: I also down loaded the patching program from www.studio1productions which unlocks all the geforce cuda card ,everything seems to work , till i launch CS6 , I am still not able to set CS6 to Hardware Render Play back , CS5 still works fine and i am able to set ME in CS5 but not CS6.What am I missing or diong wrong?Please help .......Harm ,Bill............

I encouraged the folks writing the system requirements to add some parts to go beyond that minimum and at least suggest what an "optimum" system would be. Of course, one can only fit so much text on the box, and we don't want to scare people into thinking that they need a juggernaut of a machine to just do simple things... but I think that we made some progress here.Thoughts?

So I thought that with CS6, pretty much any sequence could ouput via my BlackMagic Intensity Pro, and I didn't have to be in a BM sequence. Well, I have found that I am restricted by resolution and framerate - I have to be in a 720p60 sequence or nothing will output to my TV (which is a 720p TV). This is quite a problem as I am almost exlcusively working in 1080p24 sequences. Am I doing something wrong? Or have I misenterpretted the capabilities? FCP was able to pretty much ouput any seq/frame rate with the card.-sam

Hello all, I just built a system with: i7 3930k, Cruicial m4 128 ssd, Gtx 570, asus p9x79 pro, gskill 1866 32gb and areca 1223 raid 3.I've also installed the latest drivers for each from their respective websites.  However, i'm getting sporadic display driver not responded then recovered messages where the screen goes black and comes back to life.  In addition, I'm getting random freezes where the computer screen goes to black and can only be revived through pressing the power button.Any suggestions on how to stabilize my system?  I saw a thread about not havin the correct voltage ram, would this be the case?  I actually chose the above ram based on the videoguys recommended system.Thanks in advance for any help!-marc

Hi, I have spent many hours reading through everything I could find on a new computer configuration but as my knowledge is so limited I find myself still baffled. Please spoon feed me. My main computer use is lots of video editing in Premiere Elements 10 as well as Lightroom 4 editing. HIThis morning when I turned on my computer, it would not boot. Not even the most basic boot (I could not get to the ASUS bio DOS screen, for example).   It would only sound  one beep, and then finally a second beep-- but the second beep did not sound immediately thereafter. .  Usually, I recall, I hear two rapid beeps almost immediatley when I boot up.I did some checking on the net.  It appears to be a memory issue. I reset my memory in their slots. But that did not help. I saw the on the ASUS motherboard the DRAM LED light was solid red.  After checking the manual (and checking some YouTube videos), I pressed the MEMOK! button right next to the DRAM LED light.   According to the manual, when using WIndows OS  the system will reboot as it does its "Flashing lights" test to try to use a memory failsafe setting.  However, even after reboot the red light stayed solid and appeared not to do the testing.Perhaps I am not doing the test corr

As I have a sandybridge laptop on order (Lenovo w520), I wonder what would be the best way of exporting the timeline utilizing the Intel Quick Sync option. Cyberlink has a videoconverter program that utilizes the Quick Sync option. Would I try to use a video frame server, an uncompressed video output or is there any development completed using the SDK? There are indications that the quick sync option may have better quality and half the render time compared to an Nvidia graphic card. Thanks.

Hopefully this is not an oxymoron.I will be going overseas in the near future, and I will need a laptop that can handle editing 1080p HD video from my Nikon D7000. Is this possible to do without spending more than $800?I looked at Premier CS5's minium requirements, but I don't really know what to make of it.I'm not very tech savy so I'm trying to understand  what the specs on the laptop mean as far as tangible performance. For instance if I bought a laptop with an i5 processor, a GeForce GT 540M  graphics card and 4 gigs of ram would that be enough to run CS5  effectively with my camera footage.If not, what specific things would I need to improve and by how much? What would be the ideal set up, what would be a doable/efficient setup, and what would be one that just barely meets the requirments? What kind of experience would I get from each one?Any information would be much appreciated.
