I got it.

I would make something like that in a 3D application which will be much quicker. This is Blender and took just a few minutes to make and render. In fact it took longer to write than to make.

First, I made an object from 1 sphere and 1 rod

Then used a Mirror modifier to reflect and turn 1 sphere into 2

Then I added an array modifier to move and repeat the object multiple times

Light and render

You could ,of course, replace the rod and sphere with more complex shapes if you wish
