photoshopCS5 ツールボックス内の長方形ツールを選択し長方形作成を試みるも長方形作成出来ない選択されたレイヤーがありませんと表示。そもそも以前は常に新規レイヤーが自動で追加され作業が可能だった

Mac OS X 10.11.6 + CS5 でいろいろな条件でやってみましたが、「選択されたレイヤーがありません」という表示が出ることはありませんでした。

環境設定の初期化などはやってみましたか。

Could you please post a screenshot taken at View > 100% and with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

What are the Tool’s settings?
