I have been asked to create a PDF where a user will select from multiple choices. Each choice should display a text box with different information. I'm new to programming (and to programming in Adobe). I understand from poking around that I will use validation script coding for the drop-down list. I've found an example, but it doesn't work and I've checked and rechecked the code with the same outcome. Here's the example code:this.getField(txtDescription").display = event.value=="Other" ? display.visible : display.hidden;txtDescription is the text box that will display if "Other" is selected from the drop-down list. For my form, I need 3, or more, drop-down choices, each of which will display a corresponding, otherwise hidden, text box.Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Any links to tutorials would also be greatly appreciated.Thank you
Hi,I'm working on a QR code, I've selected some text fields (NAME, TITLE, PHONE, EMAIL, URL), inserted a QR code and it works but it doesn't create the Vcard format I need (when I scan the QR my cellphone doesn't recognise it as a contact that I could easily save in my phone clicking on "add to contact".So my problem is that I would like the QR code to be a Vcard but when I try to modify the script (with the custom calculation script option) this appears and at this point I get lost:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------/* Customize: */function bMemberOf(strName, aStrNames){ for (var nMembIdx in aStrNames) { if (strName == aStrNames[nMembIdx]) return true; } return false;}function strTabDelimited(oParam){ var bNeedTab = false;

Hi,I have used Adobe Acrobat PRO DC software. Tagging a PDF document is pretty much easier when compare to other software. If the document is tagged then we can view the tagged objects as (Paragraph/Table/Figure). So, my question is. Whether i can get those tagged objects(Paragraph/Table/Figure) programmatically from a PDF.So, here by using the Accessibility Tool we can view each and every object as Paragraph or Table. Can we extract those objects programmatically as JSON/XML? Guide me..Thanks and regards,AJAY
I am looking to extract pages 7, 16, 17 of an 18 page document...and then combine them into one separate document.At the moment I am using:this.print({ nStart: [7 - 1], nEnd: [ 7 -1] });this.print({ nStart: [ 16 - 1], nEnd: [ 17 - 1] });Printing the pages and then combining them manually which is not great...Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,Using Adobe Pro I created a new form that a user can fill in digitally. But I know a certain part of my customers prefer to print it first and then fill it in. The form has two drop down list fields. If printed the user can’t see the values in this lists. I thought about creating a print form along in the same document. If the user fills in the form I want it to print page 1 and if the fields are empty I want to automatically print page 2 and 3. I tried the “will print” JavaScript but did not succeed yet. Can anyone help me out?
Does the Adobe SDK support conversion of htm / html files to pdf silently? How is the support / performance for HTML5 based files?
I have created a form and has an email option but I am wondering if I can have the JS automatically save the document with the person's name and then ask to whom it would be sent to. The person's name is a field.
Hello I have a PDF form that I have made. It has a dropdown box with 0,1,2,3 I would like a check box to tick if 1,2 or 3 is selected.Could someone please help me
I have a PDF with many layers that are hidden or shown based on javascripts and field values. I'm trying to print to post script and the application freezes and then crashes about 30 seconds later. I'm able to print to post script with another pdf, but this one in particular will not work. It's a pretty large file (13mb), so I thought I would try to flatten it and reduce the file size, but I still have the same problem. Below is the function I'm using to print:function PrintThis(){var pp = this.getPrintParams();pp.fileName = "/filepath/something.ps";pp.printerName = "";pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.silent;pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none; if(typeof(PrintToLoc) == "function"){ PrintToLoc(this, pp); } else{ app.alert("Missing system access priviledges. " + "Please contact administrator."); }}Are there any
I have a field called "MileageRate". I would like that field to toggle between read-only and "read-write" when clicking a button. This way, each year that the mileage rate changes I can just enter the new rate, then make read-only again without having to actually use the "prepare form" functionality of acrobat to make that change. Is there a javascript I can use for that? I don't have any sample to enter here because I don't know how to write javascript... but I've become quite talented at copying and pasting .Any help is appreciated, thanks!Ariel
Hello,We are using Acrobat plug-in to save PDF from our application. For one particular scenario we are trying to save a non-english filename (like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc) to PDF. We are using AFExecuteThisScript to call the saveAs method to actually save the PDF file.As per documentation we found here:ASBool AFExecuteThisScript (PDDoc pdd, const char * cScript, char ** pRetValue)AcroForm Methods Executes a JavaScript script.Parameters: pdd The PDDoc in which the script is to be executed. cScript A string containing the text of the script to be executed. If Unicode, the string must begin with 0xFEFF and end with 2 null bytes. If this is not the case, it is assumed to be in the application's language encoding, as returned by AVAppGetLanguageEncoding. pRetValue To get a return value from the execution o
Hi there!Hoping someone might be able to help explain this to me.. I searched for a while and can't find any similar occurrences.I just went to add a footer to a document I'm working on (manually - using the "Header & Footer" tool). As soon as the options window came up, the JS console also popped up and started going haywire with errors. Each time I typed a letter or clicked anything on the Header & Footer options window, the console showed another block of the same errors. In all there were over 600 lines of the same errors repeating.They are all mostly reference errors claiming that several of my document level functions are not defined - when they most definitely are.Does the Header & Footer tool cause some sort of JS event? And if so, why wouldn't it recognize the functions? I'm super confused here. An example of the errors is below.Thank you!ReferenceError: no_zero is not defined1:Field:FormatTypeError: f is null1:Document-Level:addTodayReferenceError: no_zero is not

I'm likely out of my element here... but here goes!I created a file in excel and made a form with it in Adobe Acrobat XI Standard (in Windows).I have 3 dropdown lists that I want to be dependent - or cascade? For example - if the category "BOILER" is chosen, then the Sub-Category only allows a list containing "Alpa, Beta, or Charlie" as it's 3 choices... and if Beta is chosen as the Sub-Category(1), then the Sub-Category(2) only has a list containing 1033, 1003, 10003Is that realistic or too complicated for a beginner like me?
I've searched about as much as I can search while I'm in the office. Problem is this, when I go to measure tools, select the perimeter measurement type and click to start measuring the line that shows while in the process of measuring looks to be around 12pt thickness. After completing the measurement the line can be edited with the properties option, and I've tried make these default etc. The line after completing the measurement is fine, but the line while in the process of measuring is still gigantic no matter what I do. FYI it's my boss's computer that's having this problem so there is no telling what he did and I haven't be able to find an option in preferences that has to do with the "preview" line or whatever we want to call it.Windows 7 64 bitadobe acrobat pro 11.0.17
I cannot highlight text without getting a comment as well, jus want to highlight text. I believe a made changes to the comments tool but I cannot figure out what I need to remove to highlight only in Edit PDF
I have thought of two approaches to this because my folder with 2000 PDF files contains many files that only have one page. 1) Somehow find a way to determine the PDF files with more than one page, then run a script to extract and save the first page of every PDF with > one page i.e., to another folder.2) Run a javascript in Adobe Acrobat XI to extract the first page of all 2000 PDF files in my folder and save the resulting PDFs to another folder.I wish if possible to do this without all 2000 PDF windows opening up during the process---which will no doubt crash my computer if I try to do this will all 2000 PDF files!So far, I have tried using the Action Wizard which carries out 3 steps:Execute JavaScript: this.extractPages(0);Delete pages:from 2 to 3SaveAdd to original file name a "1" after the original file nameOutput: PDFIf I do it like this, all the files within my folder start to open. I ended the task before anything like 2000 PDFs were opened. Also, this delete option failed a

Hello all, So I have a problem with calculations and pre-filled values from an external website/program. In my case, I am uploading the form to a web-based program. When printing the form from there, it should auto-fill the form with the data it has inside the system. This works fine for single values, but not for calculations. So let's say the example is: Value 1: form code 'value_1' -->external system will automatically populate it with the value 'x' (number)Value 2: form code 'value_2' -->external system will automatically populate with the value 'y' (%)Value 3: should be the sum of Value 1 x Value 2 y, so: value_1 times value_2 = xySo before printing the document, all fields are empty. Only when printing, they should be populated with all 3 values. However, when I try to do this, the calculation never works. What I have tried so far: - Formatting the fields to percentage, numbers etc,. -->no effect- Maintaining the calculation in the extra settings tab -->does not calcu
Good morning,I have two codes that I've used to do similar functions, but I'm having trouble combining them.This code:var emptyFields = []; for (var i=0; i<this.numFields; i++) { var f= this.getField(this.getNthFieldName(i)); if (f.type!="button" && f.required && f.display==display.visible) { if (f.valueAsString==f.defaultValue) { f.strokeColor = color.red; emptyFields.push(f.name); } else { f.strokeColor = color.transparent; } } } if (emptyFields.length>0) { app.alert("YOU MUST COMPLETE THE FO
As we all know, when we view PDFs with Acrobat, by using Shortcut keys "Ctrl+F", we can find the words we wanted. But I noticed that, if the words, especially Chinese characters, sorted in other order, it doesn't work well sometimes. The text layout is usually from left to right and top to bottom in the page, however, the text can be scrambled in order to achieve a beautiful design effect. If the words were arranged in a more complex form, when we wanted to find them together, the effect was not satisfactory.Please look at the following screenshots:In the PDF file, there are two famous Chinese poems, "年年有今日" & “岁岁有今朝”. The former three pictures showed that by using "Ctrl+F", each Chinese character in "年年有今日" could be found. Theoretically speaking, all the characters in "岁岁有今朝" should be found in the same. Unfortunately, as the latter two pictures show, the Chinese characters in a horizontal arrangement coud be found, while none could be found in a verticle lines arrangement. In oth
Hi,I've been experience this particular problem, it seems that every time I sanitized a PDF the size increased from 4MG to 44.5MG. I'm sanitizing the pdf directly from Adobe Acrobat.
