I had it all running perfectly... then I changed my email address to repurhcase the software. So a new account and all fresh software. Therefore, lost all of my preferences.
Please can you help with the basic items to run through to STOP the lag and beach balling?
There are other posts about LAG but they all ask for preferences to be removed and reinstallation. The thing is it WAS just fine with my OLD preferences. So there's something there I need to change.
The software is the latest. The MAC OS is the latest. I have two external DELL monitors running through my MacBookPro laptop. Absolutely tones of memory... AND it simply can't be any of that as it was running brilliantly previous to my new software installation. So for me the logic is it MUST be a preference setting.
What I'd love is a list of the basic preferences to tweak that will alleviate this new constant lag. I had a vague memory of something about the type from years ago... ??
It's a real drag and impacting my efficiency working. Any tips apprciated. Thanks.

Yes, it'd be much better if the resolved items are still visible... but checked off. & Yes it'd be much better if there is ONE 'okay, I'm done, send checked off list' rather than single points.

Is there any way to view at 100%? So you know exactly the visual size? I can only see + and - scale. Thanks.

I agree completely. I've been using this software since v 1.0. I've NEVER had so many issues as I have the past 12 months. Indesign is simply awful. It sometimes doesn't start at all. And I have to uninstall and reinstall. Then I set up all my preferences (for the 50th time, no exaggeration). Then it's fine, then for no obvious reason it'll beach ball and run slow again. My mac is very well maintained, I clean the system files regularly. But I am having so many technical issues with this software it's infuriating. I'm paying a lot of money per month for this software, and feel so frustrated by the total lack of support. I spend hours of un-billable time searching for solutions. It's just not good enough.

Suddenly the most simple copy and paste will not work from indesign into illustrator. It will work the other way (can copy/paste) from illustrator to indesign. Item a simple vector box (or anything else for that matter). Drag and drop, also not working. Literally NO paste option available in illustrator. I restarted with new preferences. I changed preference to switch off the SVG as per some other posts. Still not working. Making things very difficult for me, as that's something I usually do, with NO issues every few minutes. Okay. Ta so much. Just did some testing and it was A.O.K, so I can only assume User Error. Perhaps I'd had a '0' as opposed to 'ignore'. I'll be stoked if this has sorted it. Ta. Cheers, Ra

Hi ya. Ignore doesn't allow it to act as it used to though. As in, it doesn't my set space before and space after measures (after a HARD RETURN). ONLY works when I have a paragraph style set. That's why it's 'doing my head in'. So, ignore works the same way as it used to for you?

I'm finding it an absolute pain in the A*. I loved paragraph before and after and it worked just beautifully for me. Especially when setting typography initially, pre-paragraph styles. I try using 'ignore' and I try setting it, and I try sticking to my usual 'before' and 'after'... it isn't working as one would expect. It's fine IF I have paragraph settings defined, but I don't when I'm initially designing... Is there any way to TURN that OFF? I'd prefer to work the way I have. Ta Ra

I have latest versions of everything, udpated yesterday as was away for a couple of weeks. But today now I'm back working, it's been horribly slow all day. I've restarted. I am having issues with SLOW performance. AND earlier today I did get a 'using all memory' error. I've never had that before.

Bring back the check box!!!!! To be able to easily tick an amend as done and view ONLY unchecked items was so easy. And now... a right pain. Please put it back how it was.

For the past month or so, this is (different chaos every time) how my illustrator files open. I have to drag the workspace to another monitor (I have three) then it renders correctly. Then I pull it back to my main monitor and it works fine. No issues with any other apps. Any suggestions on what could be the cause. Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. Latest versions of everything. The previews are fine on Typical Display, but as soon as I move to High Quality Display it's an issue. It's particularly bad in a new ground up 12 page document I'm working on at the moment. I often 'save as' to overwrite, I've re-saved images in photoshop also. Please help. It's very hard to work with it like this.
