Thanks for the info Keith. Perhaps you might then be able to inform me exactly what the actual predefined "order it is designed to" apply its adjustments in is. I've not heard of this before, and it may be really helpful with the practice of editing overall. I presume that what you mean here is that LrC (and maybe any other Lr versions) has a preset manner of doing what it does irrespective of the way that "I" think that I am doing edits? That'd be helpful with regard to the use of other external editors as well. I have all of the TOPAZ software and always have wondered the order in which to use them, either before or after applying changes in LrC. Thanks again.

Well ... so far, I got nothin'. And I still have no access to Portfolio. I mean it doesn't even show up in my ADOBE CLOUD as an available program. Its gone. This seerms very strange to me, as I have been working on creating a web-site IN Portfolio, and have even uploaded a number of my images to it. Maybe Adobe removed Portfolio from Creative Cloud or something? MGBJAY

All of a sudden I am no longer allowed access to PORTFOLIO. I am, and have been a fully paid Adobe Photography Plan member for 4 years. In fact, PORTFOLIO does not even show up as an available app any longer. What's the story?

So, here is my dilemma ...
... yesterday afternoon, I replaced my 1TB SAMSUNG M2 NVME with a brand new 2TB M2 NVME ssd ... AFTER FIRST cloning my 1TB SSD to the new SSD. It is an EXACT DUPLICATE of the 1TB SSD, and the extra space has been properly allocated so as to allow access to the entire disk. Yes, I know it isn't really a "disk".
The NEW 2TB SSD is also formatted as a GPT disk so that it matches the system into which it has been installed. All the images that are on the 1TB SSD are now residing peacefully on the NEW 2TB, and this has been confirmed visually.
Also, the NEW 2TB SSD now contains the SAME DRIVE DESIGNATION, i.e., H:/ HUBBLE with a single partition with all available space granted to that single partition. A literal DUPLICATE of the 1TB SSD.
What puzzles me is this: ALL of the folders on the new 2TB SSD have question marks (?) and the EDIT IN choices are GRAYED OUT.
In addition, if I go to the DEVELOP MODE TAB, ALL of the images bear the same message, that being something close to "IMAGE NOT FOUND". Now that mayn't be the absolute exact verbiage of the message, but it is close enough to count for this purpose.
I plugged the original 1TB SSD with all the original images, and LR reads them just fine, but neither does IT allow "Edit In" anything for the same grayed out reason.
This is the issue that I am faced with and I am certain that this is not some catastrophic content loss. I am certain that I have somehow mis-allocated the images in a way that I am unclear on.
If you can assist me with your intelligence muscles, due to the fact that you know exactly;y what to do to remedy this situation, I will forever be in your debt.
Well ... I will ... at the very least, give you a resounding round of applause.

... To davidg / Jim Hess / r_lw338; ... Soooo, as I mentioned in my original post / nothing physically changed on my computer. Nothing. The single difference was the UPDATE(S) that were pushed out by ADOBE that I have not used since APRIL 2019, that I accepted and installed or updated ... whichever is the more correct phraseology. After doing so was when I discovered the issue of not being to see any of the images on the drive they were actually physically residing on. In fact - AFTER the update(s) LR pointed to another physical drive which was curious because the images were NEVER on that drive ... which is why LR said that "The File Could Not Be Found". What I ended up doing was re-importing the images from the correct physical drive back into LR ... and lo and behold ... there they were all sorted and containing all of the edit data and meta data information stored as it should have been since the last time I used the software. Apparently the update caused the issue, though fortunately ... it resolved with little more than a slight disruption in the process. As they say ... "Alls well ... " Regarding the rest of the questions that I asked back at the beginning ... with regard to the 2 copies of PS and the 2 copies of BRIDGE: "Should" I just remove the older versions of each of them and be done with it? I have not done so because I was (am) unsure whether or not the doing so would further screw up my now properly working versions LR & BRIDGE. AS for the CAMERA RAW ... It installed with the other two at the time of my original purchase of CREATIVE CLOUD back in December of last year. Didn't know there was an issuie with that Jim Hess. I just assumed it was supposed to be there, since it always has been. However, with LR onboard ... having CAMERA RAW does seem a bit redundant. To each of you that replied, Thank you and ... if I can return the favour, I'll be happy to try. p.s. I've included an image of the CC configuration I currently have running, as illustrated by the ADOBE CC menu ... or whatever it is called. OK. I've read through similar message inquiries here and the answer to this particular issue is not raised. The day before yesterday, I logged in to LR & BRIDGE. There were updates for both since it has been a while I have had time to work on any of my images. Having had no issues updating in the past, I simply decided to do the updates as described, and everything was as one would have expected, i.e., I spent some time reacquainting myself with the images that I had been working on. Please NOTE: I changed nothing ... I moved nothing ... I edited nothing ... ALL THAT I DID was accept the updates to BRIDGE and LR CLASSIC and allow them to be installed. EVERYTHNING else remained as it was the last time that I used any of the software about 4 months ago. Now ahead to last evening ... I again opened BRIDGE and it did show all of the images in question and they all appeared to be just fine. I then opened LR CLASSIC. I opened the LIBRARY folder and again ... there were the images that I wanted to begin sifting through ... ... however, when I switched to the DEVELOP folder, gasp, I received an ERROR message that informed me the of the following ... "The File Could Not Be Found". It does seem that the images are somewhere, however I am not able to open any of them to work any edits on any of them because of the error. I have not done anything so far because I am fearful that all my many many hours of work on these images may be lost if I did. I am including 2 screen shots: One of the error message "The File Could Not Be Found", and another that illustrates the drive that the images are - and HAVE BEEN - located since the beginning. Again I must restate ... I have not moved - altered - changed or replaced any hard drives, nor have I made any other changes to my system in any way. EVERYTHING is exactly the way it was BEFORE I allowed the updates to BRIDGE and LIGHTROOM CLASSIC. What is interesting is this ... When I open ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD ... the menu there shows that I now have two versions of BRIDGE (ver. 10.0.1 & ver. 9.1) and LR CLASSIC which does not have a version munber displayed with it. CAMERA RAW also updated and seems to work fine ... although at this point I am a bit skeptical about all of this. Firstly, and in addition to the "The File Could Not Be Found" issue, is it OK for me to delete and or remove the older version of BRIDGE if it is not necessarty to keep onboard? Secondly ... I now also have two versions of PS (ver. 20.0.8 & 21.0.2) While so far I have not used PS for anything since between LR CLASSIC and CAMERA RAW I am able to acheive all the image editing needs that I have had up to this point. May I remove the older version of PS and leave the newest in place without causing any additional issues? Please see the attached images that show the error message and the drive where the images "should" be sitting. BTW ... the missing images on the drive they should be located on ( I believe they are still there, somewhere) they all have a "?" mark next to each folder. All advice on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

So Todd ... ... I've read through the entirety of the link you sent and it is very helpful. And it has led me to another question: When in the process of "editing" an image according to the recommended sequence discussed earlier ... it becomes on the part of the editor's imagination to add some creative enhancements to an image, such as a mask here and a mask there in order to bring out some particular aspect(s) of a photo ... and assuming that all the steps in the above mentioned process rendered an image to any particular degree acceptable to the artist ... ... let me try to begin this again, as a more well framed question: I have a photo, any photo ... and before any adjustments have been applied ... I have an idea of a few particular details that I would like to bring out in that image based on nothing more than my creative instinct ... and understand that by this I do not mean adding anything not originally in the image, i.e., (compositing) - but instead strictly manipulating parts of the original ... would the process of editing follow the straightforward approach you referenced in the earlier outline of editing, i.e., Exposure - Contrast - Highlights, etc. ... and then once that is completed, go back in ... to add additional masks to specific items or areas of that image ... further adjusting luminescence, black levels, clarity, and so on, in order to enhance and refine that image to meet the original concept in the artists head ... or make those adjustment masks concurrent with the process of bringing the image from its RAW state to any particular end? I hope this is as clear when read, as I thought it was as I wrote it. What drives this question is that I have a habit of editing some images to bring about the vision that I have for the subject matter that can, and often times does, incorporate five and sometimes eight or nine different masks to impart the effect that I imagine. I recently read piece somewhere on the LR forums on the "proper" sequence of edits. Please DO NOT mis-read what I am asking here ... it is not as though I believe there is an "actual procedure" for editing images ... however, there is a recommended sequence generally suggested sequence to en edit process in a thought-out workflow. That is what I was reading about and now cannot find. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Opinions? Jay

Ok DAVESCM ... Thanks for the answer to my first question. Being on a steep but relentless learning curve, I have another ... actually 3: 1) Editing an image in ACR, seems to me at this point, similar to what can be accomplished with LR. Is there a difference as far as the final edited image? Does LR contain anything (tools) that ACR does not? 2) What may be the benefits of installing LR and using it instead of ACR? 3) Last evening I was editing an image in ACR and it had extensive edits that included 5 separate "adjustment brush" masks. by the time that I was finished and ready to save the image, 2 things happened: First ... rendering completely slowed to a crawl. Second ... the final image that was saved actually altered the "original" image and I didn't think that would've happened. It's OK, insofar as I have the final edited image and it looks the way I was seeking to achieve ... how ever it seems as though I really have lost the original of that image to that edit. How do I go about disallowing that from happening again? Thanks, JLP

I am a new user of CC and have a question about CR and saving an adjusted image: I have finished tweaking an image in CR to a point that I like. I've read a bit about "smart-objects" and still am not completely clear how to use them to their best ability. What does opening the image into PS as a "smart-object" allow me the ability to do with it, that just saving it straight away offers? I have already opened it into PS as a smart-object, though have not yet done anything with it. What are the options at this point? Is it a good choice to "save" it as a smart-object as opposed to some other format? All advice is welcome, and appreciated. Thanks.

I am a long-time PS user PS 6.0) and fan. Of late, I have been using the free-standing version of BRIDGE CC as a file management utility for about 5 months, however, I just built a new computer and re-installed my copies of PSCS 6 and LIGHTROOM 5.7.1 What I would like to know at this point: Not only if it might be necessary, but more would it be prudent to remove BRIDGE CC and use the native version of it that is built into PSCS 6. The SSD space on the drive that the software is installed on is getting near its threshold, and if I would be well served by using the native version of BRIDGE contained inside PSCS 6 ... thereby giving myself a little bit more headroom on that SSD? Experience in this area versus opinions absent such actual experience would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Jay
