I tried to get my PSE2019, via Glen's excellent advice, reinstalled but the installer wouldln't work. I called Adobe customer service. The tech assured me she could get it working but even with screen share was unable to. She offered me $20 off of PSE2025 for $79.99. I pleaded with her to sell me PSE2024 for the same or even $99. No luck. Now it's Adobe's subscription PSE, which my libertarian soul rebels against, or finding a PSE2024 that is not a faulty deal or a complete gouge. (I found it at eBay for $240, which I consider a gouge.) Is there any hope for finding it at a decent price? Or even PSE2023 or 22? Thanks.

Thanks a lot, Glenn, but I have a couple of questions. 1. I opened the PSE2019 editor but saw no way to log out of it. I can X out of it in the top right corner or go to File at the top left and in the dropdown choose "exit," but that's all I could find. 2. When I go to the main adobe.com site and log in I do not see a "products" tab. I do have my order # and serial # if that would help. In other words, I'm not sure Adobe has my information on file.

Thanks Jeff. Yeah, Photoshop Elements 2019. Windows 10. Jeff1 screenshot shows the original default text. Jeff2 shows the kerning adjustment I made. Jeff3 shows the results. In other words whatever kerninig adjustments I've made are lost when I do the tracking of adjusting the tracking to "0". The tracking overides whatever kerning I've done. So does the tracking have to be done before the kerning? Or, hopefully, is there a way to preserve the kerning when adjusting the tracking?

I kerned all the letters in my title of my book and was then hoping to see how tracking would affect the kerning adjustments. But when I apply the tracking to the full word, I lose all the kerning adjustments. Anyway to keep the kerning (it took a really long time) while applying the tracking to the full word? Thanks.

I've been experimenting with it. Seems when I turn that layer panel with the clipping mask on it entirely black and then use the eraser tool to get rid of then center area, then use the Gausian blur that I can come up with a real nice vignette right where I want it. Thanks.

Thanks Greg. (Thought I posted this earlier.) I did not choose the Quick mode. What I did was in the "Guided" mode when I was done with the vignette I went to the top left in the toolbar and chose File>Save Then when I clicked on Expert at the top I got the Cancel/Discard/Save popup. This confused me as I felt I had just saved it, so I probably chose "Discard." The dysfunctionality is that all the layers do not respond at all. I am able to open a new layer though and was able to add text with it. But now that I know just to go from Guided to Expert I'll have no problems. (Plus, I've been experimenting, I see I can save the changes in Guided and then choose not to save them in Expert.) All good. Thank you.

Thanks very much, hatstead. I appreciate the help. However, unless I missed something, when I was done following your instructions, I just ended up with a black center. Yes, I could fill in the surrounding transparent areas, but the black center stayed. I used an AI tool to double-check, and it says there might be a missing step. Its instructions (attached) seemed to work.

I worked up a file in the Expert mode, then did a vignette in the Guided mode (if you have a tip on how to do a good vignette in the Expert mode I'm all ears). I saved the file in Guided mode and got a popup asking me something (that I can't remember) and when the file opened back up in Expert mode I had severely dsyfucntional functionality. Any idea what may have happened? Perhaps I should've done the vignette in Guided mode first? Any way to get functionality back in Expert mode for that particular .psd? Thanks.

Thanks a lot, Jeff. And thanks for leaving your slider numbers up there. (I used them.) I've got the coloring I want but it just looks bland. But it's a lot closer branding-wise. I think if I leave the doors their natural color it might provide a little balance and relief. Also I can clean up what's behind the title. And play with a darker vignette color. It's progress anyway. 🙂

I'm an indie author trying to do my own ebook cover for a sequel to my first legal thriller titled The Perfect Lawyer. I'm trying to get the cover to have the same basic color scheme (soft brown toward the center, darker brown, perhaps with the vignette tool, toward the edges) as the first cover in order to get a branding effect from Book One (The Perfect Lawyer) to Book Two (The Perfect Prosecutor). And I cannot replicate the color in Book Two because I used one of the "Smart brush" "special effects" butons in Book One, and it did not do the same coloring on the new image. I did a Sepia tint and it's better than nothing, but it could still be so much better. The color I'm looking for is where the red dot is in the image of The Perfect Lawyer. (hex code c1a073) I've done The Enhance>Adjust color>New Adjustment Layer>Hue saturation and then checked the "colorize" box with c1a073 and it it's just like a really weak lazy beige. Playing with the hue sliders mostly makes for a goofy orange color. I just can't seem to get the soft brown I'm looking for. I'll attach the image I'm trying to colorize too. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks Jeff. I was able to properly (without stretching out the bottom line, just leaving whatever is on that last line left-aligned) justify the text in a previous project. See the attachment for how justifcation should look in fiction anyway. The "fully justifed" method would have stretched "anyone" across the full width of the paragraph. As in: a n y o n e. Of course more evenly spaced than that. The layer I used for the two paragraphs is transparent. I just can't remember what I did. Thanks for the help.

I read the 2012 and 2021 post that say it can't be done (without the Elements add-in) but I did it a couple of years ago and can't remember how I did it. One of the ctrl/etc ways sort of justifies it, but it also maroons things ridiculously. Like g r e a t. Thanks PS. What's this Elements add-in? First I've heard of it. Worth it?

I guess this is the latest version: Photoshop Elements 2022 update (version 2022.3) I want to upgrade my PE19 to that, but the requirement sheet says I need 8GB. Is that a hard and fast thing or is it chances are it will work with only the 4GB? Thanks
