Before updating, when I used the brush or certain other tools like clone stamp, the shape of the tool appeared -- so a round brush showed a circle and a spatter brush showed the spatter. If you had the shift lock on, it did not show the tool, only the crosshairs. When you enlarged the brush, the circle enlarged so you could target the area you were working on easily. Suddenly, that's not working the same way. I only get the crosshairs unless I hold the shift key down. Then the circle appears until I move the mouse. Sometimes it disappears immediately. Is this a change to the program? Did I accidentally change a setting I'm not aware of? Is there a way to revert to the old way? I reset the preferences and I'm working on the latest version -- 25.3.1. Also on MacBook Pro. TIA.

I know this is trivial -- but it truly impacts my workflow. I use both Bridge and Acrobat. The dock icons are both white on black. Granted, the symbol/type makes a minute difference, but all of the others I use (ID, AI, PS) have a color and I tune into that much quicker than the letters/shapes. It should be a relatively easy thing for you to do, Adobe. It would be a HUGE help for me and probably others like me. thanks.

I realize I should know this -- where do I find the crash report? A Google search only gives me info on saving from the dialog box that pops up after a crash. Is there any other place that it is stored? Thanks.

I've read about others having similar problems, with no real solutions, so I'm going to try again. I work in ID every day, so this is driving me crazy! InDesign version 13.1 MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 MacBook Pro (2.9 GHz, 1gb memory) Working on local network -- 3 Macs on ethernet The common denominators must be: 1. MacBook Pro 2. Local network I can't pinpoint a certain action that causes the crash. I have a feeling it has to do with an autosave to one of the networked computers. Most of the day I work on documents stored on one of the other networked computers. I think it happens with both networked computers, not just one. I've tried everything I've found in the forums -- the patch for 13.0 doesn't work now that I've upgraded. I've trashed and reconfigured a number of preferences. I've deleted and reloaded. This never happens on my partner's iMac, so I'm sure the problem is connected to the MacBook somehow. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I used to love Indesign... and still do except when it crashes. Even though I've saved my prefs and cache, I still have to make a number of manual adjustments to get back to copacetic.

Actually, it seems I was mistaken. We were using 13.0.1. I just updated to 13.0.1. And I still have the issue with packaging. I keep thinking there's some conflict in there that is hidden deep and affects some, not others. Now I'm reverting to 13.0 again.

My only choices for CC updates appear to be 13.0 and 13.0.3. How did you get a 13.0.1? As of yesterday, I was running the latest High Sierra (10.13.3) and Indesign 13.0.3. And packaging wasn't working with that combo.

OK, I finally reverted to Indesign 13.0. That solved the problem on all computers. So, in case anyone else is reading this, one Mac had High Sierra and another had Sierra. I had permissions problems on both machines running 13.0.3. I would deduce the problem is in Indesign.

We have 3 Macs networked via Ethernet -- all on High Sierra, all on Indesign CC 13.0.1. I can open an Indesign file that's saved on one of the other computers and I can save it. But if I try to package it, I get a message that says Indesign can't access the file. So, reworded, I'm getting the message that it can't open the file it's trying to package. If I try opening the same file from the Mac it's saved on, I get the message that it can't be opened because someone else has it open -- even though I closed the file and quit Indesign on the other Mac. The only way to open it now is to save an IDML -- the INDD file seems to adopt a permanent "someone else is using this file" status. The same thing happens with the other Macs and other files... if the file has been saved on another machine, a second one cannot package it. The only workaround is to save the file to the Mac being used by the person packaging. Then it can be packaged back onto another Mac. I've checked permissions and file names and pretty much everything that's been suggested. This is crazy and now I'm running into problems with multiple files in multiple places. So I'd really appreciate it if someone could figure out the problem! thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Document originally created/saved on iMac 2017. Edited on MacBook Pro 2016. Both on most current versions of Indesign and Mac OS. If I try to package the file on the MacBook, I get a "cannot package" message. If I try to package on the iMac, I get a "cannot open - incompatible error 14" message. If I save as IDML from the MacBook, the iMac can open it and package. I have tried the patch suggested and trashed preferences. Serious crimp to the workflow!

Of course, you are right. I'm just tired of replacing my preferences. I have to do that every day or two. If it's not the character styles not showing, it's the side panels not working. I have to stop, delete and restore the preferences. Just annoying. Thanks for the reminder.

Indesign CC 2018 is not showing my character styles. I have several created, but none show in the panel. The character styles appear in my CC Library panel, but I would like them back where they are supposed to be. Any ideas? thanks!

Really not helpful to tell me that it doesn't happen to most people. Really not helpful. I have trashed and rebuilt the preferences to no avail. Spent a lot of wasted time trying to find the problem. I expect better of Adobe.

I'm using radio buttons that are squares. When clicked, the square fills in solid. I'm creating in InDesign and want to do the design work there rather than doing all the buttons individually in Acrobat. And, as you've guessed, I don't want a 1-2-3 pt. selection. I just tried creating my own button rather than using the sample buttons in InDesign and the stroke stayed small and a color. The fill-in is a circle, which I might live with. Or try to figure out how to put a square instead -- tomorrow thanks for the info. mev

I have a form with Y/N options. I created the form in Indesign using the Sample Buttons. I chose a square that fills in with a square. I changed the stroke to be thinner and a color to match the style of the form. When the PDF opens, the stroke on these boxes is thick and black... the original button color. What do I need to do to retain the weight/color of the stroke on the box? thanks!

I reinstalled CS5 Design Standard after completely reformatting my Macbook (Lion 10.7.5). The installation was successful. However, I double-click on the icons for PS, IN or AI and nothing happens. Bridge does open. I installed Flash Player and I updated all of the apps through the Application Manager. In desperation, I uninstalled everything, used the Cleaner and reinstalled. Same thing.
