Why is Adobe Acrobat Pro is merging my layers? Is this a glitch? Or a preferences thing? I am not a Acrobat PRO. I do have 30+ years as a graphic designer though. I am having the WORST time wotking in this program. I am almost finished with this editable address label (created in FORM) and AAP decides that it will merge my layers. All by itself. As you see there is a black outline on each label. This is my template that I was going to delete after finishing the text layers. •What do I do to stop this behavior? • Is there any salvaging this document? •Can I remove the image and keep the text boxes? • Export the text boxes for the next sheet of labels?

This Acrobat doc does not help. I have also been online in the chat window for all hours today and multiple pros at Acrobat and they can't figure this out either. Can anyone tell me why I am getting this flattening process on my Illustrator pdf base that I am layering text fields over?: Any form fields that have the same name in the merged documents are now merged into one field. If you want the values in these fields to be unique, then you need to create a PDF Portfolio instead of merging the files. To create a PDF Portfolio, choose File > Create PDF Portfolio.

Hello All - Can anyone outline the correct steps that I need to take to Create An Editable PDF: • Begin process in Adobe Illustrator to create an editable pdf • Export and then Edit in Adobe Acrobat PRO • Save as an editable pdf (That will open as editable in Adobe Acrobat Reader for the download customer) Your Kind assistance is greatly appreciated. If there are any info/tutorials on this subject that you can link me to - or a contact on AA that will guide me please do chime in.

No, I am trying to add text boxes to my base pdf image. Now the pdf (when it was an AI doc) is made up of layers, is AAP able to see that? Do I need to merge / rez all my vector images into one layer before I create the pdf?

OK so now im starting again and i am trying to duplicate empty text boxes... I click into the pdf backgrond by accident and it does this: Any form fields that have the same name in the merged documents are now merged into one field. If you want the values in these fields to be unique, then you need to create a PDF Portfolio instead of merging the files. To create a PDF Portfolio, choose File > Create PDF Portfolio. There is no resolving this once it happens as far as I can see I have to start over?

Help - I am missing something obvious that the entire world apparently knows how to do. Please TEACH ME. I have worked for years on Adobe illustrator, and own Acrobat Pro in creative cloud but am not proficient. I want to create original address label sheets with my own art in AI based on Avery labels templates. Then Export the PDF into Adobe Acrobat pro to produce an EDITABLE form (Sheet of customizable address labels) that I can sell on my website. I an running into all kinds of problems. • I save the PDF for the backgrond image out of AI as PDF. • Then Open Adobe Acrobat Pro (AAP) and "Create A Form". • Add a text field, add its properties (CMD E - font, alignment, color). • Then click PREVIEW... Add Text. Exit Preview - Before I can duplicate the text boxes and name each, the pdf flattens itself - cuts itself into pieces, and I can no longer work with it. I HAVE BEEN trying for a month now. I am putty in your hands. All ears. DOES ANYONE know how to guide me through what should be a very simple process?

Hi Mike, Thanks for trying but no. I want this as a preferences setting. Not to have to grab and move my layers manually. I am doing that now. I want the app to behave differently. I just need to know what to look for in the settings to change this. You are right, I must just think differently than most designers.

Hello - I am trying to find an option to stack the layers that I duplicate in the reverse order that A Illus wants to do it. If I select a layer, go up to the hamburger icon on the layers panel and click duplicate, it stacks it on top of the previous layer. I want the stacking to be under the layer I am duplicating. Is this a choice I can make in preferences? It has always seemed backward to me, and I spend time reordering my objects in the layers panel because of it. Thanks Everyone.

Hi Mike, Thanks for trying to help me. I have the correct driver. I was working with a Huion tech, ( I became frustrated when they emailed me every 24 hours with a slow reply.. I also now know that they are IN China, and I would have to work with them after 9 pm my time on the chat window). I can only get just so far with the newest driver for my model: Huion Pen Tablet- GT-220 V2. (I am on an Imac OS Ventura 13.4. When I run the test on the software after installation it tests as if its working and recognizes the pen on the test on my desktop. It does not however see the pen in AI or PSD. I see mentions of a work around using a wacom tablet software. But I think this is no longer accepted by AI. Seems I recently saw that as one of the updates for AI. Thoughts?

How to connect adobe illustrator to Huion tablet in 2023? It works on a software test... but it's not seeing AI. It was working since 2019, then after multiple software updates it seemed to want a software update. Now it tests ok with the Huron software but it won't work in Ai.

This is a continuing problem since the beginning of the year - I have kept up with every CC update, but just as the versions before it - Adobe Illustrator 25.3.1 Crashes on launch I am on an iMac Desktop - macOS Big Sur. I don't think I should have to stress about this and waste my time getting AI CC to launch...ever. Your ideas for what might be causing this will be greatly appreciated. Here are a few workarounds that SOMETIMES work for me when ILLUSTRATOR WILL NOT LAUNCH: • Launch Photoshop first. Then launch AI • Go to Creative Cloud. Uninstall Illustrator. Reinstall AI. Restart from CC • Go to user/library/caches and remove the folder "com.adobe.illustrator", restart your mac. Go to Finder > Go. Press the Option Key. If you release the Option key, the Library option disappears from the menu. Select Library. Your user library opens. • Restart computer - again.

I have tried this for 3 days without siccess. I followed atutorial and read multiple instuctions online I still get a missing piece to my overlap in Illustrator. Instead of repeating the image on the overlap it is reducing the image by that much. I need to use this technique daily - this is not behaving accoring to any direction that I have found so far, Can anyone here help me out? See my settings in screen capture below. I am trying to add .25" Should it be -.25?

Hi - I am at a loss here. I am working on a bit of the illustration as you see in the lower arrow...but I am getting all these other pints that tell my object that it's center is way off in the upper right corner. Can someone please tell me whats is going on + how to fix this? It is really slowing me down. I am on an imac, mojave, AICC. Thanks!

Hi Monica, Previous to High Sierra I was able to double click on a psd, or ai and have the correlating app open. Now the same action opens preview only. YES, I have done the "get info", Control Click, and clicked the change all multiple times. I have been told by a Facebook friend that It is possible that Firefox is the issue, I am not familiar with Mac OS Launch Services Database, or what you are referring to. If the issue is Firefox, that seems odd to me since I am working on my desktop, in my studio, not online, not in a network or anyplace where there would be a conflict in administrator of Users and Groups. This is a home studio using Creative Cloud. Can you please expand upon what I need to do to get the apps to open when the icons are double clicked - while using Firefox as my browser? I still don't see the relation between my web browser and the desktop apps. You kind help is appreciated.

YES! I did all of the above, NOTHING will make a permanent change to how my files open in preview. That is the only consistent my files all open in preview. Is there a file preferences I need to set? Weird as I have been on Mac for decades and never had this issue before. I am thinking it's a CC issue, that is the factor that is "new".

This does not work for me. I have been trying it for months. My files cannot be double clicked on the desktop if I want them to open in the native app. I have to open the app then go to open and search for the file I want to open. Please advise. I am on a Imac with 10.13.2 high sierra
