Thank you for the very useful script. Would it be possible to modify it so that it does not create new instances of smart objects in the transformed artboard? Example: a document with many artboards of different sizes, but containing the same (linked) smart object - after editing which it is updated in all artboards. In the script-transformed artboard, new instances of smart objects are created that are not linked to the original smart object. This somewhat limits the usability of the script.

Make your pictures with "potatoes" higher and wider. Keep some empty pixels around "potatoes" (in picture file, not only in InDesign frame), so they are not to the edges. So InDesign when downsampling, has info about empty pixels around "potatoes" - and won't invent meaningless pixels damaging your design.

Just download original vector image from freepik.com, rotate 90 degrees, and combine more of them to create bigger background, no AI needed: https://www.freepik.com/free-vector/twigs-hop-seamless-pattern-with-repeating-images-malt-leaves-hand-drawing-white_11243902.htm OK, not exactly your pattern, but definitely from same author, you can search more on freepik, if not good enaugh.

According to the watermark, you only downloaded an opaque webp preview. They offer two paid versions for download: JPG (also opaque) and EPS (vector containing two layers - a magnifying glass with a transparent background and a checkerboard background). The EPS can be opened in Illustrator and the checkerboard background can be turned off. Attention, the zoom effect is only created artificially in that chessboard. After pulling the magnifying glass itself into Photoshop, the zoom effect will have to be created anew from the current background.

Agree with Lumigraphics. Most images without included color profiles are sRGB (web). So it's safer to have sRGB in preferences just for them. Any more advanced graphics NEEDS to have color profiles included (and Photoshop will recognize and uses them). More advanced users creating new files in Adobe RGB should be able to set their desired preferences (and should be aware of the consequences of opening files without profiles).

Do not use PAPER color for your text. Your paper si still white, so your text is white... Color definition for PAPER color is only for display purposes in InDesign.

If it is same smart-object-image on all artboards, be sure to not copy/paste it, but duplicate by alt-dragging from one artboard to other (or duplicate whole artboard). This will keep just one instance of that image on all artboards, so only one big data in your PSD. Also when editing one instance, it will update all.

You use standard resolution for your 27 inch QHD display (2560x1440) or scaled down? I use base Mac Studio M2 max (and also mini M2 Pro) with QHD display and it is good enough hires for InDesign to use GPU performance. From your screenshot, InDesign recognize your GPU (info at bottom), it look like display is not good enaugh.

To reduce PDFs for preview, i use https://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf Often better results than from Acrobat Pro (file size). Do not use for print things and for interactive forms (makes forms uneditable).

I have the same problem, in todays PS beta 25.0 update can not collapse (or de-collapse) Artboards in Layers palette. On both intel (last Monterey system) and M2 Pro (last Ventura) macs.

Could it be an insufficiently large scratch disk? How big is the stored PSB? Info about the size in pixels is not enough - multiple layers and large smart objects can drastically increase the stored size. For example, if I have an 8 GB PSB with a lot of artboards and large smart objects, it will take up 100 GB on the scratch disk just after opening (without further editing and remembering data for undo/history). You probably need more then 256 GB free space on your only drive (system and scratch), or (better) use another bigger drive for scratch.

I had the same problems, this worked (at least for me, on Mac), working on fonds catalog for our bank client - with data in excel and word (created in word or word cooperating with excel or so, i am no office expert): open your PDFs with graphs from office in Affinity Designer (30-day trial available), export to new PDF. This new PDF will open in Illustrator with correct editable texts.

In InDesign 2023, my Working space is US Web coated v2 (i want Fogra 39), nevertheless in Color Settigs i have Coated Fogra 39. Also when creating new document, US Web coated is assigned instead of desired Fogra 39. In previous InDesign, if Fogra 39 is in Color settings, then same Fogra 39 is in Working space too and new document get Fogra 39 when created... What can i do to force new InDesign to keep Fogra 39 as is set in Color Settigs? For new documents and proof setup, same in export dialog?

Hmm, if it is possible drag & drop PSB from Finder/File explorer to InDesign (and it works, also will export without a problem), than it IS supported. Just (mysteriously) not suppored in Place and Relink dialogs (on mac, do not know how on win).
