Maybe 2 approaches would work - Firstly decide how you are going to use the finished video ie. will you publish it on Youtube or video stream it on a website. Then set it to render with appropriate settings - put it in the render queue then go to where it says 'Lossless' in blue. Click the down arrow to the left of it and select a compressed codec. Alternatively, you could try going to the same place and choosing 'custom....' then change from AVI to 'Quicktime' or something like that. I'm no expert but in my experience, AVI files tend to be huge. Changing the file type but not adding any compression may reduce the file size, it will still be big but hopefully more manageable than 35gigs. You could then use Media Encoder to process it for different uses.
