Photoshop version 27.8 is live: More image models, smoother workflows!

The June 2026 Photoshop update is here, bringing more creative choices and meaningful workflow fixes.

What’s new

This release expands creative choice in Generate Image with access to custom‑trained AI models, similar to what you’ve seen with Generative Fill. You can now choose from Adobe and partner models, including Firefly Image 5, Flux.2 Pro, and Gemini, making it easier to explore different visual styles, achieve stronger photorealism, and get results that stick closer to your prompts. Whether you’re experimenting with concepts or polishing production‑ready visuals, having multiple models at hand gives you more control over how your ideas come to life.

Bug fixes — thanks to you!

Your feedback continues to shape these updates. In this release, we’ve addressed several customer‑reported issues to make everyday workflows more reliable:

For a complete breakdown, see the full list of fixed issues in the release notes.

How to update

To get Version 27.8, open the Creative Cloud desktop app and update Photoshop from the Apps tab. Once updated, you’ll see the new model options available directly inside Generate Image.

Thanks for the update! The new image models look promising, especially having multiple AI options for different creative styles. The workflow fixes are also a welcome improvement. Looking forward to trying version 27.8.

We've been waiting for the expansion of picture models in version 27.8.

Our marketing team will save hours of labor by being able to switch between Firefly and Flux.2 for virtual staging and "clean up" of our rental properties pearland listings. We manage a lot of high-end real estate photographs for pearland property management.

The solution for renaming smart objects in particular makes me delighted. In the previous version, maintaining the layers structured was a significant challenge when managing big folders of assets for oak loop properties pearland.

I would want to ask the community if there is a performance difference between the Gemini model and Firefly 5 for interior and architectural photos.

    Hi @kishornath

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please share more details about the issue you're experiencing with the Remove tool?

Also, could you share your System Info report? To do this, go to Help > System Info, then copy and paste the entire report here so we can take a closer look.

It's great to see Adobe giving users more flexibility with multiple AI models instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. The workflow fixes are just as important though, small bug fixes often make a bigger difference in day-to-day work than flashy new features. Love it!!

The expansion of image models in version 27.8 is exactly what we’ve been waiting for.

We handle a lot of high-end real estate photography for pearland property management, and being able to toggle between Firefly and Flux.2 for virtual staging and "clean up" of our rental properties pearland listings is going to save our marketing team hours of work.

I’m specifically happy about the fix for renaming smart objects. When we are managing large folders of assets for oak loop properties pearland, keeping the layers organized was a major pain point in the previous version.

One question for the community: has anyone noticed a performance difference when using the Gemini model vs Firefly 5 for architectural/interior shots? We are looking for the most realistic lighting for our property interior edits.

The extra image models are nice, but I'm honestly more excited about the workflow fixes. Being able to rename smart objects and finally having the transform settings stick between sessions will probably save me more time than any AI feature.

Oh dear, they didn’t fix the point selection bug in the curves properties panel. What an enormous oversight.

Please, this broke a couple of versions back and has been pointed out here and in the beta forum and even acknowledged by the team. But nothing has been done. Please fix it.

Thanks for the reply but it sems canned. While the team has acknowledged the issue they haven’t answered the question as to whether it is a bug or whether it was intended behaviour. It has existed since the redesign of the curves adjustment properties panel.
