P: 4K or 2k resolution images is 1k while downloading

So it looks like we can generate in 4k but when I download the image it is not 4k. Could you explain why that is? Thanks

Today I spent over 1,000 credits generating images in 4K, only to realize after downloading them that the actual image dimensions are extremely small — only 1246 × 848 px.

I selected 4K resolution for these generations and was charged the corresponding credits, so I’m confused as to why the downloaded files are nowhere near 4K resolution. I only noticed this after spending more than 1,000 credits today. Could you please check whether this is a bug and whether the credits can be refunded?

Is it just with the upscaler? If you try another browser as a test, does it still fail?

No, this is not an upscaling issue. The problem happens when using GPT Image 2 to generate images.

I can confirm that I selected the highest quality setting for generation, and I was charged 80 credits per image. After spending around 1,000+ credits, I downloaded the generated images and found that they were only 1K resolution (1246 × 848 px), which is not usable for my needs.

So I would like clarification on two points:

1. Is this a known issue with GPT Image 2 at the highest quality setting, or is it something wrong with my account? In other words, is this quality setting currently working properly or not?

2. The credits I spent on these affected generations should be refunded, since I was charged for the highest quality setting but did not receive images at the expected resolution. In total, around 14 images generated by GPT Image were only 1K in size, and I was charged 1,440 credits for them.

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi there, I”m having the same problem. Tried everything but my 4K image when I download deliversa 1kb image. It used 6 credits. will this be fixed soon?

Credit usage for product image creation consumes extra credits, wasting our money. You cannot deduct credits for every image you don't create. Please refund the excess amount you charged.

Update: This has been fixed, and credits have been issued to the affected users.

Thanks for your patience. This bug is on the Google side. Our product team is actively working with Google to resolve this issue. We’re also looking to refund credits, where applicable, to the impacted users once the issue is fixed.

We’ll share updates as soon as we hear back from Google.

When generating a 4k image with Gemini 3.1 Nano Banana 2, (costing 60 credits) the output reverts to 1 or 2k (20 and 40 credits respectively) but 60 credits are deducted. This has happened repeatedly.

Hi there. I just wanted to make sure you know that this issue is not only affecting Nano Banana. I’m using Firefly Image 5 as my model, generating square images. I select 2k in the Resolution settings, but all downloaded images come only at 1024x1024. For example:

As you may know, public links allow anyone with the URL to view your Firefly generation, including all associated details such as prompts and reference materials.

When I opened your link, the resolution selected was 1K rather than 2K. I’ve attached a short screen recording showing how it’s displayed.

If this isn’t what you’re seeing on your end, please let us know so we can investigate further.

I selected the 4K option and was charged 60 credits, but the images I received are only 1K (1024 resolution).
This results in extra charges without receiving the expected output, which affects my user rights.

I tried to reproduce the issue but wasn’t able to. Each generation I tested at 4K resolution returned the correct output.

To help us investigate why your generations returned the wrong resolution, please share both the image you downloaded and its link, you can find it if you go to Your Stuff > Generation History, select the image in question, and choose "Share public link" (If you prefer not to share it publicly, you can still paste the link in the inbox)

When using GOOGLE Gemini 3.1 (nano banana 2) to generate images, I selected 2K resolution, but the output was still limited to 1K resolution. Because of this, I have been charged extra credits over the past few days.

Could you please look into this issue and help me resolve the incorrect credit deduction?
