Experiencing some serious UI performance issues after updated to 25.1 this morning. Reverting back to 25.0.1 seems to work fine. See video for example.

Computer specs:

Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor, 3701 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 64.0 GB

Is there any update on this? The laggy GUI is making my work very annoying

I am also having serious lag as well with all aspects of the program. A smaller comp (1440x64) with two images and 3 lines of text takes 15 seconds to render. It is completely unbearable.

Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3950x

GPU: Nvidia RTX 4080

RAM: 128GB DDR4

@nishu_kush here's a more expansive demo of the issue. Not sure if this will be helpful in further diagnosis.

Great ideas @nishu_kush! Unfortunately, still the same UI lag after trying those.

Updated my GPU driver:

Unchecked that box:

@Trenton J Waller, is your GPU driver updated to the latest? Can you try disabling the Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels in After Effects preferences > Display?

Let us know if that brings any change.

Thanks,

Nishu

@nishu_kush here is a similar demo using ctrl+alt+shift to bring up the safe mode dialog as instructed. Disabled third party plugins and got the same result:

I seem to be having the exact same problem. I'm wondering if it's to do with AMD hardware. My Intel and Nvida laptop do not have this issue.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X

GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XTX

RAM: 32GB DDR4

Thanks for writing in, Trenton J Waller.

I did some testing, and I didn't see the issue. Are you using any third-party plug-ins? Can you try running After Effects 25.1 in Safe Mode with Third-party plug-ins disabled?

Let us know if that brings any change.

Thanks,
Nishu
