A rare bug with AE clamping HDR values in 32bit - not connected to non 32bit effects!

Ever since version 25.2 we have been noticing a weird bug.

We work in 32bit ACES exclusively.

Every now and then we come across a composition that just clamps all the HDR values down to 1.

I've managed to isolate a comp like that and the problem itself:

- AE ver 25.2 or later (even Beta)

- comp has minimum 3 layers

- at least two layers must be in Add mode - both have to have motion blur turned on

- motion blur in the comp is on

The problem fixes itself in any of the following cases:

- one of the layers gets hidden - so that only one additive layer remains

- you disable motion blur in the comp

- you disable motion blur on one of the layers, so that only 1 layer has motion blur

- you switch renderer from GPU to software

- you open the same project in AE 25.1

This occurs rarely, but if we find a comp like that it bugs out on all our machines

- rtx 4xxxx or rtx5xxxx

- win10 or win11

- throughout the last year we've reinstalled gpu drivers 3-4 times already

I have an example project - I can upload it, just tell we who to send the link to.

    Hi there,

Sorry for the delayed response, and thanks for sharing the project file. I think you’re hitting this bug. The team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

I appreciate your patience. Let me know if there are any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

Yes I think you’re right, it’s exactly the same bug. Now you have a project that reproduces it 100% of the time, so it should help :)
