AE to 25.01 - Error/crash related to rendering (and upgraded projects?)

It is unclear if your issue and the Ops are the same. What are the steps that cause your application to crash? Are you creating a new project, opening an old project, importing specific file types, etc?
If it does not match @Oguz_KALENDER1662, I would suggest creating a new bug thread, or I can pull out your posts into their own threads. See bottom of this post for the information on information we look for on bug posts.

It sounds like several different bug scenarios. Could you separate your individual scenarios into new threads so that we can start tackling steps to reproduce the issues and determining root cause? The opening projects may be related to others in this thread. But the others are likely to have different root causes and should be in their own threads for discussion and resolution.

Hello,

I think this bug thread could represent several different bugs/scenarios. It would be helpful if we could pull apart the independent error and crash scenarios. I may edit/split up this response and move responses into new threads, if we end up determining specific scenarios do not relate to the original posters so we can better address these varied cases.

One solve I've been finding useful here is Opening AE without a project. Purging all memory and cache and then opening a project and rendering. That has somehow bypassed the crashed but its a quick solve.

Thank you for posting your specs, and the error dialogs. Is this crash something that you can consistently reproduce? If so, could you record a short video of your workflow that then leads to this crash? Is it like others responding in that it involves an upgraded project?

It sounds like your issue is specifically with an old project? Is that the only scenario where you encounter this freeze or are you experiencing additional issues? If it is the singular issue, lets move your comments to their own thread and if possible, could you send a dm to myself with a link to your project if possible? Does the application freeze as you are opening the old projects or after they are open, and you perform some actions? From the sounds of it, the upgrade to 25.0.1 corrupted the file (your response on November 1^st seems to allude to this). Does the original project still open in 24.x.x?

Your issues sound similar to @Pawel376750718aja. Were these old projects or new projects causing this issue? Do you have repeatable steps that lead to the application freezing? Is your freezing issue resolved after your conversation with support on November 6^th?

Is your issue similar or different to @Pawel376750718aja and @CitizenBB1975? Was this a project file upgraded to 25.x.x, or was this file created in 25.x.x and started having issues?

Was this with a new 25.x.x project or an upgraded project? Was it just during a single session of AE? Thanks for responding as well with what fixed the issue for yourself.

Has anyone found a version that is stable? I tried uninstalling v25.01 and reinstalling v24.6.3 but it also crashed upon opening. I can't report a bug in-app in either version because the screen is white and the menu bar is not clickable. 

I also had huge problems being stuck while rendering out. As boring as it may seem... I did a restart and now (for the moment) everything seems to be working flawlessly.

I'm having similar issues. After effects crashes every time after importing any type of video file (mp4, proress etc) to my project. I'm unable to work with any kind of imported video files which is very frustrating. Probably need to change back to another version of AE unless the problem is fixed. System specs: M1 Max, Version 15.1.

@the_dudesyes, but in this case updates doesn't make any sens. Anyway, I don't understand why Adobe spaming us with new version of software that often and from release to release it's getting worst and worst. It looks like the users are also beta-testers of the app.

@BobSagget32  👉Never jump on a fresh release if mission critical project rely on it! This is an old truth for any software!

@JohnColombo3491446 any update? Some possible fix or update in soon this week? Please, let us know what is a status of that bug, becouse AE is usless right now.

You broke your own damn product and havent issued an update since, everyone i know using 25 including myself find it non functional, its consuming 80 gb of vram doing absolutely nothing, constantly shutting down, no consideration for migration of any effects or paying customers whos jobs depend on this godforsaken product and cant download a copy of 24 to revert even if they wanted to. JFC
