Hi all,

Thank you for reporting this issue. As mentioned by Douglas Waterfall in the comments below, a fix for this issue is available in After Effects (Beta) build 42 or later. Please download the latest Beta from the Creative Cloud app and let us know if the fix is working for you as well.

If you do experience any issues with After Effects (Beta), please report them on the Beta forums that are accessible via "Report a bug..." or "Visit the community..." when you click on the Provide Feedback button ( which looks like a speech bubble ) in the upper-right corner of the After Effects (Beta) UI.

Thank you again for reporting this issue,

- John, After Effects Engineering Team

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for reporting this issue when selecting text. This issue was fixed in a previous version ( AE 22.4 ) but then resurfaced in the subsequent version ( AE 22.5 ). I apologize for the confusion and frustration around which versions contained the fix. It is never our intent for fixes to remain in Beta without moving into the release version; in this case, the issue was fixed in Beta, moved to release in 22.4, but then resurfaced in both the ongoing Beta and 22.5.

There is now a fix for the resurfaced issue that is available in After Effects (Beta) 23.0.0.25 and later. Please give this build a try if you can and let us know how it is working for you when selecting text. This fix can then be included in a future release of After Effects 23.0.

Please note that the latest versions of the Beta builds have different minimum OS requirements than the release versions and also require additional steps to make project files backward compatible due to the updated project version. Details are available at the links below:

* Changes to Minimum OS Requirements for After Effects 23.0 ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-beta-discussions/announcement-changes-to-minimum-os-requirements-for-after-effects-23-0/td-p/13146155 )
* After Effects 23.0 and Project File Compatibility ( https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-beta-discussions/announcement-after-effects-23-0-and-project-file-compatibility/td-p/13108013 )

Thank you again for reporting ( or re-reporting ) this issue,

- John, After Effects Engineering Team

This is crazy. My work pays $16,000 for Adobe CC licenses and we are seriously rethinking it with bugs like this.

And you all here are wondering nobody is caring to comment on your passive aggressive posts? If you ar really as enjoyed as you say by this minor bug that is probably hard to kill, then write a letter to Shantanu Narayen. Maybe this is more effective than your posts here!

How can you make the same mistake few times ?

You should integrate it in your process.

Oddly enough, I've found that if I click+drag fast enough it'll usually highlight that last character (in either direction).
The limits are that you must be at least 1-2 characters away from the end for this fast drag highlight to work. For instance, if I have the word "Adobe" I could click+fast drag on either side of the "o" to get either "Ado" or "ode", but it won't work if I only try to select "e" or "A". Of course, clicking then shift+click anywhere still works to highlight any section.
That said, this seems pretty basic functionality, so I'm not mad, just disappointed.

I saw the new update for After Effects (22.6) come through this morning...Absolutely baffles me that this doesn't contain a fix for this...Seriously unbelievable.

Why wasn't this fix part of 22.6?! You've already fixed it one time before for crying out loud. Now you're saying it has to wait til version 23?!! Move this up the line cause It's been far too long adobe!
