Every time I try to import a file from adobe animate in to After effects 2024-2025 it remains stuck at 0 then displays the error message "an error occurred while importing this file . Please try again". I have tried every troubleshooting method possible and spoken to Adobe customer service, no luck. Please help.

    @Sloppy Droz

    Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue.

    In your trouble-shooting, try to import one of the tutorial FLA files that are included with Animate.  If that imports as expected, you have a better idea of it being a FLA related issue or Animate/Ae issue.

    If importing an Adobe Animate FLA file into an Adobe After Effects project file is not working as expected (that is, the FLA Importer is not converting the FLA into SWF files placed inside a Composition), you may need to fall back on one of the older methods for getting from Animate to After Effects.  First, though, double-check on the Animate side that you have "Optimized for After Effects" enabled in the Animate Publish Settings.  I think it was Animate 23.0 that has a known issue that Animate 23.1 resolved - so check your version numbers as well.

    The older method that I preferred before we had the FLA Importer was to export SWFs from each Animate Scene that needs to go to the After Effects project; however, this is a little easier said than done.  I would often duplicate the Scene based on how the artwork needs to be layered on the After Effects side (one duplicate Scene for what would eventually be an Ae Layer each), deleting sprites from cells or hiding layers that were not needed in what would be the resulting Ae Comp Layer and then exporting an SWF.  While this always worked well enough, it was enough busy work to made the FLA Importer a very welcome addition to the Animate to Ae workflow.  The duplicate Scenes created for export can be deleted from the FLA once everything in Ae looks as expected.

    Another option is to export a QuickTime movie or, if needed for layering, multiple QuickTime Movies.

    You may already aware of this, but for best results going from Animate to After Effects, the Scenes in Animate should be set up like linear, time-based animations without Movie Loops or interactive elements commonly used in the frame-based Timeline of Animate.

    It might be worth reviewing Working with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects from the Animate user guide as well.

    I had heard of issues before with FLAs, so did a quick search to find the solution for you.   It looks like there have been issues after updates in the past.

    This thread of 2023 talked about a bug with Animate:

    in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

    p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
