Baking options greyed out when you dont have a highpoly mesh

The options in the common baking settings are greyed out until you provide a high-poly mesh, even if you switch on "use low-poly mesh as high-poly mesh".  Specifically, the match by name settings are needed as I have lots of meshes imported at once and use that feature to separate them when baking AO.

Right, I understand.
Perhaps you could shed some light on my issue. Sorry, it's a little complicated to explain.

Have lots of Car parts for a car I need to bake at the same time.
I want the "Base" car to cast AO on the parts so at export time I include a copy of the car with the same name plus as suffix "_TEMP_AO_Body"
In the AO settings, I have set Self Occlusion to 'Only same mesh name'.

In 11.1.1: With both meshes visability turned on

In 11.1.1: With both one mesh visibility turned off (So you can see which mesh is which)
As you can see, they are casting AO on each other.

In 11.0.3, I see the options are still greeyed out but they do still appear to do something?

Or perhaps I'm just confused

Hi James,

Thank you for your message.

Those parameters were never useful if not used with a High Poly mesh. Therefore, we've now decided to greyed them out, so it's clearer for the artist.

You mentioned the Baking matching by mesh name, but this feature has always required a specific naming in the LP mesh and the HP mesh. It never worked without a HP mesh.

That being said, you can edit the Self Occlusion parameter in the AO settings and set up "Only same mesh name". Alternatively, you can duplicate the LP mesh, change its naming and plug it as the HP.
