P: brush cursors not working on 2011 Mac/MacBook Air (OS X 10.7.x Lion)

I'm running CS5 version 12.0.4 on a 2011 MacBook Air and the brushes do not work when resized between approx 300 - 650 in size. I don't know if this is a bug but the issue occurs in Lightroom as well. Please advise when an update will be issued to fix this. The software is pretty much useless to me with this issue affecting it.

This really is a nightmare. It doesnt work good,I hope that Apple will rewrite the graphic drivers and take responsibility for their (high priced) products!
If not I will certainly not buy any macs again. Back to windows then!

You have your Photoshop preferences set differently in each case -- one for Normal Brush Tip (10.6.8) and one set for Full Brush Tip (10.7).

You can see from the above that the brush action is smaller in the top panel (despite the fact that the brush sizes are the same), and the brush size indictor is much larger. I use a brush to quick mask areas of an image and with the current situation (top panel) it's much hard to mask precisely because the extent of the brush action bears no resemblance to the brush outline.

I have this setting to Normal too and it doesn't solve the problem for soft brush/tools with hardnesses of 0. Please look at the attached image for a comparison of how a soft brush used to work in Photoshop (lower panel) versus how it does now (upper).

I have solved that problem with the solution of Rich Schiller (21 days ago):
"Solved it! In the Mac System Preferences - Universal Access, setting the Cursor Size to Normal did the trick"
And Normal means completely at the left side of the bar.

mtroum- this is problem 2 I refer to immediately above. Interesting that it's with an iMac, which I don't think runs the Intel graphics. Maybe this is unrelated to the brush/tool position issue, which, as I mentioned seems to be solved in 10.7.3. I too would like to solve this problem. Maybe it is just a setting in Ps. Any comment from the Adobe folks?

I have PSE 10 installed on my iMac and on my MacBook. Problem on iMac (NOT on MacBook) with all sizing of tools (e.g. brush, clone, eraser, etc.). The circle that is used to define the outline of the tool is always bigger than the actual application of the tool. An example is the use of a hard brush. The circle always appears as though the brush preference setting is for "FULL" when, in fact, it is set for "NORMAL". It seems that this might be a simple problem because it happens with all tools, but I can't figure it out! Please help.
iMac is 21.5" monitor with 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8GB of RAM running LION (Mac OS 10.7.2).

We do work with Apple to test prerelease versions of the OS.
But we cannot discuss our findings, their status, their schedule, etc.

And yes, please report any bugs you find in Apple's prerelease OS versions. The more they fix before shipping, the better.

No clue as to when 10.7.3 will appear.

I assume that as a developer that Adobe has received 10.7.3 for testing. It does indeed solve the major issue of offset brush action at certain brush sizes and zoom settings but there are a couple of other issues that are not resolved in the 10.7.3 build I am running (11D24- not the latest):

1. At some zoom levels and brush sizes, the spot healing brush behaves unexpectedly- when you click the brush it leaves the dark area behind on the screen until you click somewhere else or refresh the page.

2. When you have Full size brush tip set so that you can see the extent of the brush action on the screen, the circle showing the brush tip is much larger than the actual action of the brush. Running CS4 on Leopard, with a soft, zero-hardness brush, the brush action extends in a graduated way out to the edge of the brush tip size on the screen. On CS5 on Lion running in a Macbook Air the size of the brush is much larger than the extent of the effect of the brush on the screen. I hope I have explained this clearly enough.

Can anyone from Adobe confirm that they have seen this too? BTW I have not reported this to Apple yet but I will.
