P: brush cursors not working on 2011 Mac/MacBook Air (OS X 10.7.x Lion)

I'm running CS5 version 12.0.4 on a 2011 MacBook Air and the brushes do not work when resized between approx 300 - 650 in size. I don't know if this is a bug but the issue occurs in Lightroom as well. Please advise when an update will be issued to fix this. The software is pretty much useless to me with this issue affecting it.

Do you know when the version 10.7.3 will come out?

Great. Glad it's working for you. Sorry it took so long. As Chris indicated, this was probably a pretty low level fix and I imagine it requires a lot of testing. Unfortunately, with major OS releases these things sometimes get by both Adobe and Apple despite our best efforts. We appreciate your patience.

Thanks Jeffrey. Your response is what customers need to hear. Just to say again, I do not now have the problem after installing a recent build of 10.7.3 so this should be resolved when the final build is released.

Hi John, I believe that's roughly what Dave said 4 months ago with his official answer. He also reiterated about a month ago with the statement: "We are still actively working with Apple on this issue. I am sorry that I cannot offer any more on this issue than that. We and Apple are well aware of the problem and are working on a solution. When we can share more, like timing we will be sure to do that here." We work very closely with Apple to resolve these kinds of issues but we can never comment on specific fixes/timing until they're officially released.

And now I see that some of the offending comments above have been removed. Interesting indeed.

So now I will comment on the attitude of Adobe employees here at photoshop.com.

I am not the only person who has been appalled by the bedside manner of Mr. Cox et al. here on this feedback site. There are always 10 ways to say something but Mr. Cox seems to have the knack of responding in the most negative and often aggressive way. Instead of what had been said above, how about:

"Adobe is keenly aware of how important Photoshop is to its customers working on the Macintosh platform. Adobe is working with Apple (OK maybe this wasn't true but say it anyway) to solve this problem as quickly as possible and we are confident that a future update of Mac OS X will provide a solution".

The ultimate solution to all of this is for Apple to purchase Adobe, like they threatened to do a while back. Then employees like Mr. Cox would have to change their customer service ways or find another job.

Sorry to be so blunt but it has to be said.

I've had enough waiting for 10.7.3 to be released so after making sure everything was backed up with Time Machine, I installed Mac OS X 10.7.3 build 11d24. I can report that the upgrade went smoothly and the brush issue is solved, at least to the extent I have tested it.

Thank you very much, Rich. Problem is solved. The greater the cursor size in the preferences, the greater is de deviation in Photoshop. Simple solution for this great problem.

Mine was already set to Normal. Didn't seem to fix the problem.

Solved it! In the Mac System Preferences - Universal Access, setting the Cursor Size to Normal did the trick
