P: Clicking GPS badge displays wrong location after LR restart

After starting LR, clicking the GPS badge of a photo centers the map on the last-displayed location rather than the coordinates of the clicked photo.

To reproduce on LR 15.5 / Mac OS 26.4.1:

1. Open the attached catalog.

2. Go to Map view.

3. In the filmstrip, click on the GPS badge of "miami.jpg". Observe the map centers on Miami (correct).

4. Go to Library.

5. Restart LR.

6. Click on the GPS badge of "san francisco.jpg". Observe that the module switches to Map view and the map centers on Miami rather than San Francisco (incorrect).

7. Go to Library.

8. Click on the GPS badge of "san francisco.jpg" and observe the map moves to San Francisco (correct).

Interesting ... in member state “Legend” a post is accepted immediately as bug but my 1st post of this bug (my state “Inspiring”) was moved to questions. Later then moved to the comment section of an accepted but different bug and further on IGNORED. I submitted again the bug, it was moved again to questions (and was there even false evaluated). Its a pain to be part of this "community". 👎

S. This is -not- my 1st bad experience about the handling of real bugs.

Following your 9 steps above as closely as possible, I do not have this problem. In step 2, all of my photos were previously assigned GPS locations, I didn’t assign them GPS locations in this step.

I can reproduce that you have not seen the bug. I.e. step 2 must be made as documented by me.

What is until now missing (and may be important):

At 2.: The map zoom level has to be set to maximum (Zoom In).

This was supposed to be fixed in LrC 15.5, and I have tried similar things in my LrC 15.5 (Windows 11) and didn’t see the problem. But I didn’t do exactly what you said above, so when I get home I will try exactly what you said and let you know what happens.

It would very kind if you could reproduce it.
That it is not fixed is clear: It is and was always a different bug compared to P: Map markers are not updated when photos are moved in the map module. I complained about the merge of these bugs, no one (Rikk F.) helped or even commented on my post.

Yes, I too felt it shouldn’t be merged. I did write in that thread about the previous problem which seems identical to yours, where I put the pins on the map for Folder A, and then later in the same LrC session I switch to Folder B and tried to map those photos, so I wanted to have Folder B pins on the map (and not Folder A pins on the map), but they were both present on the map. (And this appears to be fixed)

There are still other apparent bugs in the map operation to which I don’t think have been fixed, and I will be writing a bug report soon.

Hint: Of course this wrong map-behavior works with other cities / locations, too.

Select (e. g.) 'New York' library folder.
Map Module: Open it and make photo GPS allocation tasks in New York.
Go back to the Library Module.
Close LrC.
Open LrC.
Select some library folder different to the before used New York folder, e.g. Washington.
In library folder Washington, GPS data already present: Click on a photo GPS coordinate icon. The Map Module opens.
Expected Map Module behavior: The photo location in Washington is shown.
Actual Map Module behavior: The New York map is shown.

On a other PC with Windows 11 - Pro 25H2 it shows the same issue. This was also seen before LrC 15.4.1 and 15.5.

Installed 15.5 today, the (my separate reported bug but merged to this) bug is not fixed!

Map Module: Open it via click on a photo GPS coordinates icon will show some previously used map

Hint: Of course this wrong map-behavior works with other cities / locations, too.

Select (e. g.) 'New York' library folder.
Map Module: Open it and make photo GPS allocation tasks in New York.
Go back to the Library Module.
Close LrC.
Open LrC.
Select some library folder different to the before used New York folder, e.g. Washington.

The behavior you’re describing is different than that of this bug report. That behavior has long been present but I’ve never bothered to report it before, since Adobe hadn’t shown much interest in fixing many map bugs. However, your post motivated me to file a new bug report:
