P: Image Degradation when zoom in Library module

Increasing image size from 100% to 200% results in blurred image in Library module.

Move to Develop module and image sharpens up.

Return to Develop module and the image stays sharp until you move the cursor in to the image area, at which point it returns to a blurred image.

Same image(s) in Lightroom Classic 9.4 remain sharp at 1:1,2:1 and larger.

you are right. But the quality is worse. when I use version 9.4, the photo in smart preview is better.

here are the photos:

Photos are exported from smart previews (the original photo was not used for export) one photo from version 10.0 and the other from 9.4)

9.4:

I think this is a different issue.  When you disconnect the drive with the original photos then you are using "Smart Previews" so it is expected that the image quality is not as good.

I have the same problem. Mac Pro 2013 and macbook Pro 2014. I have the original photos stored on an external HDD. When I disconnect the disk from the mac, the photos in the library and the develop module are of poor quality (high grain). After zooming in, the photo will not be found in better quality. It's unusable for my workflov.

Does anyone have a solution?  Rate and sort images is not possible in this displayed quality.

I also see these differences between Library and Develop at higher zoom levels.

Zooming in to 1600% (80s video game look!) and then switching back between Library and Develop shows some really fascinating behavior. The Library view uses the "refined" look of Develop rendering, but as soon as I move the mouse, it reverts to a blockier look.

I also have a mid 2012 MBP running Catalina 10.15.7 which displays the same issue.

Is everyone on this thread experiencing this issue using a 5K iMac 27 inch?  Or perhaps the better question: Is anyone experiencing this NOT on a 27 iMac 5k?

So far I cannot reproduce using a MBP and 5k External.
