P: Issue with Map module in OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

On OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), the map in Lightroom's Map module is very slow to load. It takes several minutes before the first part of the map appears, and some parts don't load at all, saying instead "Sorry, we have no imagery here", even though the part in question is on Google Maps. When zooming in or out, it's the same, it takes very long to update.

Sadly, same issue here. Hard to believe that it should take so much time to fix a major bug. Let's face it, one of the main software modules does not work! this is not just a small annoyance that one can live with.

I Use iMac 27" early 2014 with 32GB and 512GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M

I am on ADSL2 with 9.5Mb down and 1Mb up.

5.7 doesn't seem to have made much difference. Still slow or not rendering at all. I can't remember seeing any articles stating that 5.7 fixed this.

Have tried LR 5.7 and the Map module does at least work but it is definitely slower than under Mavericks.

Obviously.

Problem is, this bug is quite public and Adobe should at least warn customers. Instead, in the FAQ: "In our testing, we have found no other significant issues with running Creative Cloud products with Mac OS X Yosemite."

Adobe has been working with customers... just not in public forums.

Nope, no chance here. There is still a massive upload, as soon as you launch the map module.

If the problem is so hard to figure out, why not try to communicate with the users here, Adobe? Everybody here can reproduce the issue easily (install LR under 10.10, launch map module, watch network traffic) and is willing to help.

I doubt there is anybody working on the map module...

Does the release of LR 5.7 fix this problem?

Mark, map only works for you because your higher upload speed masks the underlying issue. If you look closely at your traffic throughput you will still find quite a lot of data is being sent somewhere inexplicable. Adobe seems unable to enlighten the Lightroom community further...

I called my internet provider, my existing connection was adsl2+ 12M down and 896k up. I got an upgrade (and will be cheaper $60 a month) with vdsl 40M down and 2M up. Now the map section runs perfect! Thanks Adobe, I now have Faster internet. its cheaper, and Map now works!
