P: LR4 doesn't display point curve adjustments made in LR3

After updating from LR3, LR4 has reset my tone curves. I use custom tone curves on almost every picture, and all my contrast treatments this way seem to have gone. Initially the previews were still the old ones, so I only noticed after opening several pictures in the develop module, just to see my meticulous tone curve adjustments be removed.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I double this - I think we all should have a discount on buying future Adobe product.

Come on Tom (Hogarty)
Having all paid our money we're still waiting for Adobe to get this thing fixed.

When will the update be ready?

I'd love a copy of that script too.

Hi David,
I am sure a fix will come.
In fact it is already there in the workaround-shape of the script. You will find all about it if you display all comments in full.
I am sorry that this forum is so much technically inferior to the "normal user-to-user forum", so that I cannot link to a particular comment inside a thread, otherwise I would exactly point you were to look.
That this forum hides part of the older comments acerbates this inferiority further.

Look 7 major comments above, in the answers to Eric Bier.

The final fix, which I would guess to be incorporated into LR4.1, will be *under the hood*, I assume, where the script now is a bit convoluted, but open.
No need for you to search yon your own which LR3-images you processed via tone curve in point mode.
Or which "linear" tone curve preset was lost.

To get really prepared for your wedding season I would recommend to start testing, as the new basic controls are very different. If you want to deal with a test catalog only try searching for difficult images first, where you might get problems with auto-highlight and auto-blacks.

Good luck, Cornelia

As above, I'd like to see a statement from Adobe detailing where we are with this? Should I be asking for the above script assuming it will work, waiting for a fix to come in a product update over the next few days etc....

I don't often use tone curve adjustments, but have done on enough occasions to be impacted, and can't offhand pick out all of my images that would be affected (so I could at least flag or tag them for my own reference).

I have downloaded the LR4 trial, installed and imported a catalogue, but don't have the will to use this, or import new pictures to it, for fear that an adequate fix won't come, and I'll end up not paying for the upgrade and going back to LR3. I'd really like to get started testing, so I can get ued to the features and new opportunities ready for the wedding season.

We're a couple of weeks down the line, but I don't see any real solutions - can someone post an update please?

Tom,

Adobe must make it absolutely chrystal clear to the users what happens to their tone curves by design when they switch to process 2012. I very strongly support the idea of at least making a blog entry on that issue. Actually it's a vast oversight not to have this prominently in the documentation, videos etc.

Customers like myself feel very uneasy facing the fact that their curves suddenly contain many additional data points.

It is a highly controversial design choice. What happens if we migrate those dozens of points to a future "process 2014" -- hundreds of points?

Given the lack of the time frame for 4.1, please add my name to be notified when the "Healing" process for upgraded LR 3 catalogs is available.

I also need a copy of the script. Asap.
