P: Image does not return from Photoshop to my Lightroom Desktop Catalog

Hi Rikk,

I just downloaded both the Photoshop and Lightroom updates and I am still having this issue, but with a twist. I follow the same process as before:

1. Open Lightroom on the Desktop
2. Select an image and select Edit in Photoshop
3. Add a layer to the image (a Curves Adjustment Layer, in my case)
4. Save and close the file and quit Photoshop

When I go back into Lightroom, the image is not there. However, when I try to quit Lightroom, I receive the following error message:

The thing is I'm not editing anymore. I saved the file and quit Photoshop entirely. So, there is some progress at resolving this issue since Lightroom is now recognizing an image went to Photoshop, but it is not recognizing that Photoshop saved the image out and is no longer running.

Updates to the Adobe Photography Products were released today and contain a fix for this issue. Please install the update via your Creative Cloud Desktop App or your respective App Store. 

Note: 

You may need to refresh the Creative Cloud App for desktop software to show an update available.  ([Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+ [ R ])

For Mobile downloads, it may take several days for the update to appear in your respective App Stores.

Just wanted to add, since I think you are already familiar w/my specs, that I am not having this issue. Raw photos sent from LRC to PS, edited in PS (with layers added) and saved in PS return to LRC as a stacked .tif file with PS edits. Thought maybe this info may help troubleshoot.

Hi - I get nothing back in Lightroom CC (after closing file in photoshop).  Lightroom CC sends the image to Photoshop without issue.  The files remain only in the temp edits folder.  Thanks.

I have the same extremely frustrating problem. Recently updated both PS and LRCC and now cannot save any images back to LRCC from PS.  The SAVE option has always been iffy at best so I usually have to SAVE AS to Creative Cloud then Open With LRCC.  Now, however LRCC isn't even listed as an option to Open With from Creative Cloud.  Rikk I understand that this is being worked on but "Come on man", this is basic stuff that we shouldn't have to deal with.

A question for the two of you on this thread:

Please go to Help>System Info… and get us the exact installed version number of your software.  (PS & LrD)

Also provide your OS Version Number.

I would like to test and want to make sure I match you as closely as possible. 

I just updated both Lightroom and Photoshop to the latest version and I am still unable to get an image with layers to go back into Lightroom. Lightroom Classic does work as expected. And images that I do not have a layer added to go back into Lightroom properly. 

When in Lightroom (3.3), I choose "Edit in Photoshop", which opens the photo in Photoshop (20.0.1). After editing, I save in Photoshop and close the photo. Back in Lightroom, the photo is not updated with my changes.

I've found one way around this: saving the edited photo from Photoshop to my desktop and then opening it again in Lightroom. However, this seems to only work half the time. 

Does anyone know why photos are not updating in Lightroom? Is there a better, more reliable, and efficient way to accomplish editing between Lightroom and Photoshop?
