P: Import stuck on checking free space on disk

When trying to import photos from my SD card Lightroom CC is stuck at the phase "Checking free space on disk". The local storage is on my LAN NAS (FreeNAS) with more than enough free space. Also local hard drive is full of free space. Windows can see the correct free space on both NAS and local drive.
Import of the same files from the same SD card to Lightroom 6.0 is working without any problems.
Update: after several minutes the import continued but was very slow.

Working with LR CC is becoming unacceptable, if those issues are not fixed in a month I'm giving up on the subscription. It's not worth it. I lose less time with moving my files via USB disk and sharing on Google Photos rather than relying on Adobe Cloud...

    Please go to Help>System Info... and get us your installed version number. 

    If you restart your computer does the problem go away?

    If you pause sync does the import proceed normally?

    I've got the same problem. Trying to import a couple hundred pics into a Lightroom CC library resident on an external USB 3.0 drive. It's checking for free space for ages. Restarting the import results in the same stuck state without progress. Restarting the app resulted in an undefined error on import. Restarting the import yet again (the fourth try) finally copied over all the files immediately without delay. So this is not fixed yet. I'm using Lightroom CC for Windows 2.3, the latest.

    Strangly enough a few days later the last import attempt worked quite ok, not slower than Lightroom 6. Another issue is that overall Lightroom CC is very slow, simple browsing through the library is extremely slow even photos which I have just imported from camera. I don't have such issues in Lightroom 6 at all. Computer is Core i3-6100, 16GB or RAM, SSD 250 GB, GB ethernet connection to the NAS and 300MB firewire to the internet.
