P: LrC<>Lr iOS: Error 19650929 when opening on iOS after app update

Since at least June 19th—shortly after the release on Lightroom 7.4.0 and 7.4.1—Lightroom for both iPadOS and iOS frequently start with the following error:

"Lightroom detected an issue, please quit and restart the app to resolve. Error code: 19650929"

As a result of this, I have been unable to effectively use Lightroom on either my iPad or iPhone for a week. (My iPad is my preferred Lightroom device.)

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Restart Lightroom: This will typically throw the error again, although occassionally it loads successfully. I often need to restart the app 5+ times before it will successfully load.
  • Restart i(Pad)OS: No different than just restarting Lightroom.
  • Reinstall Lightroom: This will load successfully, ask me to login, and then begin synching my photos. The next time I start Lightroom, however, I will typically get the error. I've done this around ten times on my iPad.

Technical details

iOS

  • iOS version: 15.5 (19F77)
  • Device: Apple iPhone SE (MLMC2LL/A)
  • Network: WiFi

iPadOS

  • iPadOS version:
  • Device: Apple iPad Mini 4
  • Network: WiFi

Lightroom

  • Subscription: Photography plan (20GB)
  • Synced Photographs: 68,064
  • File Format: RAW (CR2, DNG)
  • Sync Format: Smart Preview
  • File Source: Lightroom Classic (via synced collections)

The LR iOS Team believed it resolved this issue with a previous app update, and are still unclear on the cause of current reports.

Some users report success when re-installing the app.  If you are using the free version of the app, which does not backup images to LR cloud storage, do delete the app or images and presets you've added/edited will be lost.

Please try plugging in your device and let the Lightroom app run a long while -- perhaps hours.  The team has heard reports that the issue can resolve itself if given enough time, but are looking for more info.  Please first adjust your screen brightness in iOS Settings to dim the screen to not overtax the device, and then let the app run while plugged into power.

Same here - just tried to install it on my iphone 15 pro without luck - same error message!
I think this is totally unacceptable for the price I'm paying for this whole creative cloud app suite!

I have a Lightroom payed account and got the same error code 19650929 on my new IPhone 16 Pro Max. It's the first time I wanted to use the LR-app. Is there already a solution for this problem?

Hi! I deleted the app and install it again. It worked!

@Jaclyn5E3A , @milana_0113 ,

The LR Dev team did make fixes some months ago, but clearly there is more work to do to resolve this completely.

It seems to be an indexing issue.  Could you try plugging in your device and let the Lightroom app run a long while -- perhaps hours.  The team has heard reports that the issue can resolve itself if given enough time, but are looking for more info.  Please first adjust your screen brightness to dim the screen to not overtax the device, and then let the app run while plugged into power.

Started having this issue last week after upgrading to the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. App and phone software are up to date.  Seems to be an ongoing issue and Adobe should have it figured out by now....
