P: LrD v9.4 the star rating is not working properly

Hey, @Louise+Lejay & @Miguel. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I’ll help you figure this out.

Does this happen when you’re in a a specific album, or in All Photos? Please check the sorting & filtering options active in the Album.

If not, please share a video of your workflow, and share here.

    Thanks!

I did find that if I star an image, un-star and image, then re-star the image, often if I do this once or twice it will actually save the rating. But this is very time consuming so I started moving them to separate folders. But now I need 3-4 folders for each gallery.

I am having the same problem. I cannot seem to find anything about this issue online, honestly I'm glad I'm not alone, it has been making me feel crazy.

I cannot star any images, I click the star, move to the next image, the next image show’s I've given it the equal amount of stars. Reality is none of them have stars. To work around this I can go back to the original image, click the stars, un-click the stars, then click the stars again. It’s frustrating me to the extreme. I’ve already tried to un-install and re-install, I am using a MAC

The stars on my picture won’t stay, making it difficult to organize each gallery and separate my 3 star images (because the stars won’t stay) from the rest of the gallery.

It only is triple posted because after struggling with Lightroom for 2 hours, enough was enough. So I come onto the community to find/post about it, and it told me 3x that I exceeded the 250 character limit, it didn’t matter if I had 20 words or 5. It would not let me move forward to the next step of submission. Never let me know that I succeeded in posting, only to find out it posted 3x. What a frustrating night for the entire adobe program for me, I had issues with literally all of it from Lightroom to the support community post. Feel free to delete additional posts as to not clog the thread.

I click a star, it resets as soon as I moved to the next image. I deleted the app and re-installed it (on my PC, MAC) and now I'm having MORE issues than before. Now I'm having issues with the masking, it's either not working or it's applying all of the settings. PLEASE HELP, I HAVE 4 galleries to edit. I finally thought I had a work around for the stars, now I cannot mask images. I am BEYOND frustrated

I have been marking some images as 5-star to easily find my best images from across my entire library.  Unfortunately, the 5-star designation does not appear to be working properly.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes I have to check a bunch of times to see if an image shows up when I search for 5-stars.  In the case of one particular image, Lightroom simply will not mark it as 5-star no matter what I do or how many times or ways I try.

I’m sorry for the trouble!  We are able to reproduce this problem, and we plan to have a fix available in our next release.  We’ll update this thread once the fix is available.

Is this what you guys are charging these insane subscription costs for? Give us an ETA, at least. You’re ruining our workflows.

Hi @funkahdafi, I know how important these workflows are, and our team is working hard to fix the star rating. We will update here once a fix has been released. Thank you so much for your patience! ^CH

You say “album”. Are you on Lightroom Desktop (the “Lr” icon) or Lightroom Classic (“LrC” icon)?  Lightroom Desktop has albums, while Lightroom Classic has collections.

If you’re using Lightroom Desktop, then repost in the Lightroom Ecosystem forum to get better and faster help:
