Error: Scratch disks are full, but I have MANY TERABYTES of free disk space

Why am I getting the "scratch disks are full" error message when only one of the five disks I've specified for scratch disks is full? I have more than 4TB still available according to the disks I have selected for Photoshop to use as scratch disks.

The fact is, I was doing this 15 years ago on Photoshop and it worked BETTER back then. Now it simply doesn't work at all, and there is no reason for it.

Is there actually anyone from Adobe here who can actually help?

I put a link to the reason why I need 300,000 pixels, but you removed the link.

I make gigapixel images.

The message is not real, as you can see from my screenshots, and as I have written in the title of this post. I have many terabytes of free disk space.

EVEN AFTER PURGE->ALL

I get the same [Removed by moderator] error message. there are no history states, i have only just opened the file!!! I am trying to only change canvas size or move a layer and I get this error message.

WHY???????

OH, now I can't even view the scratch disks due to a program error.

I'm getting the same garbage on two computers at the same time, so don't try telling me to re-install photoshop.

Well, at that size I'm inclined to think the message is real. Not sure what else to say.

Now, I'm sure a lot of people are curious: what do you need 300 000 pixels for?

There are 2 layers, maximum 4 layers.

I have done this exact same task many times for the last 20 years ( Link removed by moderator )

on a machine with 192GB ram, but that machine is sadly a bit too old and i'm working on 2 other machines now, one with 64GB ram and one with 128GB ram, good GPU, fast disks, and so on.

the drives are NVME (D and J) and SSD (all the rest except F which is HDD)

yes, i'm working with extreme file sizes. the canvas size is 290,000 pixels (why not 300,000 pixels? because of another ridiculous bug) i have history states set to 1. i do purge-all every time i want to do something. same [removed by moderator] problem. nothing helps

Haven't seen this before. What type of drives are all these? Are they internal or external? NVMe, SSD, HDD?

Just to get a baseline here: In both of these, you should be able to set the system drive as primary scratch, and one of the others as secondary. You shouldn't need all of them. For most practical purposes, 500 GB should be enough.

Unless you're working with extreme file sizes. What's the pixel size of these files? How many layers? How many history states (history can eat up scratch quickly).
