P: "Adobe Community Help" keeps popping open (Windows)

Adobe Community Help keeps popping open when working within Adobe Photoshop CS5. I'm not sure if I'm doing some sort of shortcut that causes it to open, but sometimes (maybe once instance, during a 40hr week) Adobe Community Help will open in a Window while I am doing stuff in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

I'm not sure what causes it, but I'll close the Community Help window, and then continue working in Photoshop, and it will open again. Only way to keep it from opening back up again is to close and restart Photoshop. This has happened to me on my home PC as well, and in previous versions of Photoshop, if I remember correctly. I am using Windows 7 now, but I think I've had this happen on XP too.

Is it because there are updates available? Is it because I'm doing some sort of weird shortcut that I don't know about?

An example: I was transforming an object (using the mouse, clicking, using shift button while moving the cursor, using the space bar while panning, etc.) It just opened again. Guess it's time to restart Photoshop...

Can you test this issue with MSE disabled or removed?

Anybody else use Microsoft Security Essentials? I know I don't.

Are you using the latest manufacturer's driver (not obtained by Windows updates, but by downloading directly from the website)? And by "double clicking on a layer" I assume you mean in the Layers panel, but are you clicking the thumbnail (depending on layer type, different functions), the layer name (to change the name), or the blank area (to open Layer Styles)?

And I can't have "Use Graphics Processor" checked on any of these machines. Crashes like crazy when double clicking on a layer.

Two computers use the same memory and no hyper-threading.

i5-3570K with Gigabyte UD5H motherboard 8GB G.Skill 1033 DDR3

i5-2500K with Biostar z68 motherboard, 16GB G.skill 1033 DDR3
Tried this one with Intel Processor graphics and with nVidia GT430.

One is a Core 2 Duo E6850 XP Home, 4GB (I think it's) G.Skill DDR2
This one has hyper-threading.

All computers run Microsoft Security Essentials.

Thanks for the link, I wasn't familiar with this issue (and my previous search did not return this particular thread). I'm not able to reproduce this problem on my computer though... But if we really want to talk about this issue, let's keep the conversation on that thread.

I'm not sure what you mean about the security update. We did deal with it by releasing an update. Was there something else that needs to be done here? Did you you encounter any issues with your computer as a result of this update or not having the update available earlier?

And I'm asking you questions because I need more information to be able to help you, I'm not trying to play some sort of game.

Hmmmm.... I don't remember all of this information off the top of my head for my personal Windows computer. But I've rebuilt my own computer several times, replacing the OS (Win XP 32-bit and 7 64-bit), motherboard (I've used Azus and Gigabit), CPU (always Intel, but different numbers of cores), RAM (several different manufacturers), and video card (always Nvidia, but different models). No combination I've used has caused this problem to occur.

But we've not seen this on any of our test computers, so the potential list would be extremely long.

So the real question for you is what was the same between these computers? Anything software or file-wise that was the same between machines? Did you do any kind of file transfers from one computer to another? Or did you start with a completely fresh system, with nothing moved from one computer to another?

On the hardware front, what about hyper-threading? I suppose this question goes out to everyone: are you using HT?

Brett,

How about if you give us exact part numbers of computer that you know doesn't have this problem.

OS:
CPU:
Motherboard brand/model/chipset:
Memory brand/part number/amount
HDD/SSD brand/part number/size
Video Card: brand/part number/driver version
PSU
etc, right down to keyboard and mouse.

I've tried on three totally different computers, three different video cards, different memory, XP Home x86 to Win7x64... I give up.

My tip: put some money in researching those problems and use some Windows machines, to learn why this happens!

And about the question with the security update, why this has been done? cause of MASSIVE protests by users! Deal with it.

And what does this questions help? I want som REAL help, not some question games. Sorry to be such rude, its not personaly, but its directly pointed at ADOBE.

Wont change my mood.

Many people are reporting that this issue has occurred for them in CS5 and/or 4. This issue doesn't really seem to be version specific, rather it seems to be computer specific.

What is the "CS5 Scrollbug"? And how was it fixed by a User?

And what do you mean by "securebugs" that were "only closed via CS6"? Are you aware of this update for CS5?: Security update | Photoshop CS5, CS5.1

Good that i stayed on CS5, im reading a lot of Problems here and i am sure Adobe is working on CS6.5 to make people pay for 1-2 additional buggy features! Err ... wrong way, please turn back to QUALITY!

btw: also i have this Bug happening on my Version.
also the CS5 Scrollbug STILL happens and has been fixed also via an USER!
Such a shame on Adobe.

And dont come me with "its the best version" and so on, reality happens where users are going to work with yoru software.

Not negating and turning things via some forums. I want to SEE an Update that really helps me and the others!

Also whats about the known securebugs that were only closed via CS6. No free bugfixes for former version... i am really disappointed with your politics here....

CS5.1 is much better, CS6 is unusable for me.
