P: "Adobe Community Help" keeps popping open (Windows)

Adobe Community Help keeps popping open when working within Adobe Photoshop CS5. I'm not sure if I'm doing some sort of shortcut that causes it to open, but sometimes (maybe once instance, during a 40hr week) Adobe Community Help will open in a Window while I am doing stuff in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

I'm not sure what causes it, but I'll close the Community Help window, and then continue working in Photoshop, and it will open again. Only way to keep it from opening back up again is to close and restart Photoshop. This has happened to me on my home PC as well, and in previous versions of Photoshop, if I remember correctly. I am using Windows 7 now, but I think I've had this happen on XP too.

Is it because there are updates available? Is it because I'm doing some sort of weird shortcut that I don't know about?

An example: I was transforming an object (using the mouse, clicking, using shift button while moving the cursor, using the space bar while panning, etc.) It just opened again. Guess it's time to restart Photoshop...

@ Mr. Cox: I started my subscription a year ago next month and don't remember there being a Photoshop CC then, or perhaps I just missed it. Only noticed it existed recently and didn't see any major difference between it and P6, so I didn't bother switching. I try not to needlessly install software on my SSD.

@ Mr. Jifen: As far as your comment concerning the payment system. I'm sure people who can afford to buy all the software outright instead of going the payment route don't like it. I for one was unable to use the software as it's beyond my financial ability to purchase, so I am glad they came up with this option for those of us who couldn't otherwise afford it. I used Gimp before last year, which is good software, especially considering it's free, but has it's limitations.

that is a terrible remark..

but one which leads us closer to the answer..

Fixed for people with a perpetual license and fixed for Creative Cloud.. not fixed for anything else.

this relates back to the fact that its a problem which occurs when the computer is connected to the internet, and when the program attempts to connect to the internet

the connection attempt is most likely related to Adobes attempt to secretly access its program from the internet, and collect data and make changes like it did in one or two earlier CS versions, even attempting to brick all Adobe installs if they didnt like your configuration.

and then its fixed for 'perpetual subscriptions' which also allow perpetual access to your computer from adobe online Servers

this isnt rocket science..

its evil adobe corporate malevolence and malicious coding for underhanded & devious purposes

and exactly nothing else

so of course they arent going to fix this..

besides, it helps them get everyone connected to the eternal servitude/ perpetual payment system.

If you are a creative cloud subscriber, why do you not have Photoshop CC installed?

This issue was fixed for CS6 perpetual license customers, and will be fixed in the next CC release.

I have been having exact same problem on and off lately. Seems to occur when I'm in the color picker as well.

I just checked for updates as suggested but updater says all software up to date.

I have both 32 & 64 bit versions of Photoshop CS6 Extended installed. Am a Creative Cloud subscriber. I thought one of the advantages of being a Cloud member was first receivers of new updates?

Can't wait for the fix. I just had a couple of dozen tabs fly open in my fully updated PS CC Win7 64 Firefox. It needed a full shutdown-restart. I lost all my carefully compiled app-tabs in the process. This has been an annoyance for absolutely years.

Hi Jessica,

For CS6 on Windows, you need to be at version 13.0.1.3. If you are at version 13.0.1 then you can apply the free update by choosing "Help->Updates" inside Photoshop. The fix for this bug is not present in 13.0.1.

For more information you can read this blog post which has information on our latest versions.

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm actually not sure now that the update ran successfully; our IT manager tells me that the new patch does not fix the issue but that I can install it if I want to try it anyway, which seems like an odd attitude.

I've run the updater he made available and now Photoshop reports version 13.0.1, will see how it goes.

Are you sure you installed all the updates? What version does it show in Help -> System Info ?

I use CS6 at work, we have installed the update and I still get the bug, Photoshop literally just crashed and died of it. Would be nice to actually get this fixed some time.
