P: AMD Radeon RX 5700 is not detected

Hi guys,

Photoshop 2021 is not detecting AMD Radeon RX 5700 for some reason. I can see it in illustrator 2021. This is causing some major issues as Photoshop became unusable.
I have the latest BIOS, GPU drivers, fresh installation of drivers - removing existing drivers with DDU.

Something that caught my attention is that the Sniffer is crashing in the system log (The GPU Sniffer crashed on 13/12/2020 at 20:45:33). I've tried to run it sniffer.exe - but it does nothing just two initial lines in the terminal and then just exits.

I've reinstalled Photoshop and removed my profile settings.

Can anyone advise, please?

Start Photoshop, then bring up the preferences dialog:

Edit > Preferences > Performance

Look for the "Graphics Processor" settings

Does it list a "Detected Graphics Processor"?
What does it say?
Is the box by "Use Graphics Processor" checked?

Now open up an image

Select the "Rotate View Tool" (it's in the same block as the "Hand Tool")

Can you click and drag to rotate the image?

If you can you should see a compass rose in the middle of the screen with a pointer that rotates as you rotate the image. If you can't there will be a "no entry" sign.

Thank you for the files - they are useful. On to the next test. I have a feeling you might already have tried this, but I'd like to try it again. Can you delete your preferences directory, i.e. this one:

C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2021\Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings

(alternatively you can rename it - that will make it easier to put back later).

Then rerun Photoshop and get Help > System Info. Send that to me, then also look for what should be a single sniffer-out.txt file in

C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2021\Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings

and send that to me as well.

This is Bob here from the engineering team looking into your issue. There are some files which Photoshop stores on your machine which would be useful for me to examine. Can you go to this directory:

C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2021\Adobe Photoshop 2021 Settings

(you'll need to put the correct user name into the path)

and send me these files:

Running photoshop/System info: still indicates date from yesterday: The GPU Sniffer crashed on 13/12/2020 at 20:45:33 . I've disabled my antivirus and attempted to run sniffer.exe .System info log is not updating

Hi @JeffreyTranberry , the monitor is connected via DisplayPort to GPU, I've tried another port, rebooted my workstation. Unfortunately, not detected.

In addition to above, I've assigned high-performance profile to Photoshop in Windows settings.
