Photoshop has become suddenly unusable. Almost every tool gives me an "Out of memory (RAM)" error and when I try to open the Performace pane I get the error in the title. I cannot get inside the settings, as this error keeps on popping up. I tried everything (reinstalling PS, deleting everything (including preferences), updating PS, updating Windows 10, switching to the latest Insider Preview). Nothing fixes this error.

Hi everyone, so I've got a question. The working storage of my photoshop isn't working, I always get a message that my storage is full band I can't use my brushes or something else. If I want to optimize the capacity I can ́t and just get the error message an integer between 96 and 8 is required. The additionally problem I can ́t update on 2019 because of license problem. Is there anyone who can help me out? Thank you in in advance.

What duplicate plugins you meant? I have Exposure 5 & 7, those are different versions. Of others I have Topaz Denoise & Infocus and Imagenomic Portraiture.

I tried without plugins and on my pleasant surprise, PS was stable as a rock! I opened so many images in 16bit psd files, used all kinds of heavy calculations, went almost to 98% RAM usage and nothing bad happened!

Until I started PS normally with all plugins, did everything as before and - PS was solid and wouldn't come down. 😞

So I guess I'm at the starting position again. This bug is so hard to reproduce on purpose... yet when I work, it happens naturally. Murphy's law.

Hi Ivan,

Would you please reset your preferences and let me know if you still see this error?

If that doesn't work, there was a workaround for a similar bug (the subject of this thread, which was resolved). I would be curious to see if the workaround here also helps you.

I see you have a lot of old/duplicate plug-ins. If you disable 3rd party plug-ins - (hold down Shift key when launching Photoshop, and choose 'Yes' to disable 3rd party plug-ins) does Photoshop operate normally?

Happened again, this time while using Content Aware crop tool on 1 out of 7 RAW images I currently edit.

Out of memory report.

The only remedy was to close Adobe Lightrom Classic in the background.

Again, Photoshop used about 6GB of ram while reporting this error, a far cry from 70% (10.4gb) currently allocated.

Photoshop clogs when it finds that >80% of total amount of ram is being used (as displayed by Task Manager). When RAM usage hits >95% some serious issues start displaying in PS during heavy calculations or plugins.
The worst case is PS falling apart with freezing, while background programs like Firefox start displaying errors when trying to see opened tabs. This happens because PS is stuck with allocated memory. Interestingly, LR Classic remains stable and responsive.

Also, as an update: I have tested various memory allocations, from 65% to 75% for PS. I picked 70% now as a sweet spot, but overall nothing changed for the better.

The biggest "obstacle" for PS CC2019 that I found was my total memory RAM reaching certain values for certain operations, be it history brush, the size of history brush, content aware fill, Exposure 7 plugin, etc.

My question is - why is PS doing this when it does have plenty of RAM? And why not using the scratch disk if it struggles with memory? Sounds like a bug. This only happens in CC2019 version, CC2018 was ok, both for PS and LR.
