Hi Guys

Please tell me if I am missing something or if this is a bug in the new february update ?

When using the refine edge tool I have started getting these square pixelated edges and this never used to happen. All of my settings are the same as i have always used.

all sliders set to 0

object aware selected not color aware

decontaminate colours is not selected.

im using apple M1 Max with 64GBmemory

Photoshop is current version and up to date as of today 8/3/22

I still have this issue years later .. I retouch using a pen on screen. I do find that it happens less often if I select using my mouse and make sure that the pen doesn't touch the screen at all when this screen is open. Still happens, but much less frequently.

A year and a few months later with a promise the engineering was looking into it and yet no change. I think it is reasonable to assume that this is expected behavior and that for many if not most use cases the "object aware" option is non-operational. I don't love the "color aware" either but it's all we have and I use it 99% of the time.

I totally understand your frustration. Could you please share your System Info with me so I can flag this issue to the appropriate team? You can find it in Photoshop under Help > System Info. Just copy the info to a text file and attach it to your response.

Figured I would add my voice to the choir. I have had this problem for so long I have forgotten about it. My "solution" was to just conclude the "Object Aware" does not work and "Color Aware" is the only way forward. Probably not what the engineers want to hear but that is how I have proceeded for the last year or so. I know I am probably not getting the most out of this tool but the jagged selections burned me under deadline once too often.

Have also been having this same issue for years now, ever since I got this computer, persisting through multiple OS and Photoshop updates. The jagged edges seem to mainly be a problem with Object Aware Refine Edge and not so much with Colour Aware.
